April 15th, 2017 end/start of construction zone

We drove the road in our 1957 Mercedes and it was easy to drive across. The weather had been good for a few days, really no issues at all. Saw several locals in heavily loaded small VWs. Would be more difficult to pass after several days of rain but we think it is still passable for most cars.

April 8th, 2017 Cabana Blanca

Very nice new build Cabana with kitchen, bathroom. Seperate bedroom with two singles beds and two beds in lounge.
Nice word fire.
Good wifi. Good and safe parking for car or motorbikes

April 6th, 2016 Bahia Atitlan Inn

The restaurant and hotel are closed at the moment due to change of ownership. However, there is a guard while the people in the white house next door have the key to the camping ground and take the fee. It is a great site with awesome views over the lake and very close to Panajachel. We stayed 14 days here. Bugs are a bit of a nuisance early morning and evening but jeans and Johnson's "Off" keep them at bay. No wifi, but very good wifi in Panajachel

September 29th, 2015 Izamal Camping at Hacienda Santo Domingo

Nice campground within walking distance of the great little town of Izamal. Very good facilities. Friendly owner. Paid $40 for excellent WiFi. Also paid $150 for car, tent-trailer and 2 persons. Recommended.

September 28th, 2015 Izamal Camping at Hacienda Santo Domingo

Nice campground with very good facilities. Within walking distance to the magic place of Izamal. Great WiFi for M$40. Paid M$150 without electricity for two people, car and tent-trailer. Highly recommended.

September 19th, 2015 Camping Cancun RV

Nice camp ground with helpful owners. Got all modern facilities, including kitchen and great swimming pool, washing facilities (at $80 per wash and dry). Provide very nice meals at additional costs. WiFi ok-ish, need to go to kitchen or more likely close to owners home to get good reception, but even then slow. Have been there twice for one night. We're allowed to store our tent-trailer there for $50 per day. Quite close to Cancun and airport.

September 17th, 2015 Uxmal Parking Lot

Good place to stay if you want to be early at the ruins and have them all to yourself; and to see the light/sound show in the evening. Also in easy walk of the Chocolate Museum - do not forget to go and see that. Camp fee is $131 per night which includes use of toilets in the park, but you need to walk 500m or so. No WiFi and no power or other facilities. Had to pay $50 per person extra for dip in swimming pool. Restaurant across the road excellent but expensive.

September 13th, 2015 New Samula Trailer Park

Difficult place to drive in with large concrete hump. Grass was dirty with dog business; had to step around it. Place is quite run down. Anita has been unwell for the last month and her elderly brother looks after the place. Son in law brought us a nice lunch. Everyone was most helpful and friendly. Nevertheless will not go back there.

September 11th, 2015 Maya Bell Campground

Nice campground with restaurant and great swimming pool. Within walking distance to museum and entrance to ruins (2km). Howling monkeys great experience. Paid $250 per night. Good meals in restaurant with nice new bar installed. Facilities OK but dated and in need of maintenance. Quite hIghly recommended.

August 31st, 2015 Overlander Oasis

Great site for 4-5 smaller rigs. Make sure you book in time! We stayed at the Oasis for eight days and did quite a bit of work to our 1957 Mercedes-Benz and our tent-trailer. Calvin, man of many talents, helped us with quite a few of the jobs and directed us to local people for larger work. Most helpful and practical. We will be back there in a few weeks!! Highly recommended - campgrounds do not come better in Mexico!

August 21st, 2015 Bugamville RV Park

Very nice camping site. Owner speaks good English and is most helpful. Toilets and bathroom clean.

August 13th, 2015 Hotel Hacienda Baruk

Great place on car park in front of 5-star hotel with all and excellent facilities, including use of swimming pool and small lounge. A bit out of town and noisy as close to motorway and railway. Very clean an friendly staff. Washed our car. Paid $350 per night.

July 30th, 2015 Totonaka RV Park

Nice campground. Helpful, English speaking. Good recreation room for working in. Internet poor where we were at the site, but fine in the recreation room.
