March 28th, 2018 Caiquen Brewery

this is where they make beer, it's a small little 2 man operation in a house at the dead end. worth a stop. the beers are $1500clp each and are very delicious. worth the extra price. the owner will give you a little tour of his operation. please be respectful, this isn't a tourist stop, it's about meeting locals artisans.

May 27th, 2017 "Secret Restaurant". seriously super awesome.

the place is called Casa Combi and it's one of those hidden gems I don't believe a single tourist has ever been to. my host family took me here and it reminds me why I travel. to uncover the little secret spots like this. it's a bit outside of town and looks like a dodgy neighborhood but it's not. it's in a residential area and looks like a normal house from the outside. look for a big white wall with a black gate and a sticker that says casa combi. it's to the left of the orange walls with wood gate. knock on the door. the décor is really inviting and homey. staff was friendly. burgers were either $5500clp or $6000clp. Small glass of hot wine $1000p. a really good place to go enjoy a local spots without getting gringo priced.

May 7th, 2017 Camping at a really nice Hostel. La Casona. Lots of space to park

stopped by on my way back up and it's a little quiet but he's dropped the price for the off season. $100p to sleep in your car, $200 to sleep in the hostel. you'll likely have a room to yourself for $200p since it's off season

May 3rd, 2017 Hostel Museo (NO CAMPING)

Adding a pin to show this place now has camping options. Tents/Van 3500clp per person which allows full access of the hostel, shower, towel, wifi is good.
Owner is amazing. Spanish/English/Portuguese
10,000 for a bed if wanted. Small dog was allowed inside. Best option in town for bikers/moto/rigs.
Big rigs may not be able to fit through the gate, but the road out front is quiet and I boondocked in the Kombi. There is a semi covered space for tents under a tree.

May 3rd, 2017 Hostel Casa Museo

Rigs/tents 3500clp
full use of hostel, shower and a towel.

May 3rd, 2017 Death Zone

a family of four was killed here yesterday when a 400k rock hit their car. There we many many large rocks on the road and the workers are clearing them. If raining...it's very very dangerous right now. Everything is becoming loose from the construction.

May 2nd, 2017 Updated location for the Lodge just North

fixing the pins location for the lodge located north of here. We are here and things are pretty quiet but the cabanas are half price for the off season. 30,000 and sleeps 7.

April 22nd, 2017 B&B Burger

a solid option for reasonably affordable ground beef patties cooked on a grill and then slapped on bread that has been baked into a shape that would be ideal for said ground beef patty. They have a menu which is pretty cool. It allows you to order a burger that isn't just meat and bread. You can add things like cheese and sliced vegetables. It's pretty nice to know I have these kinds of option. The prices were reasonable and I had to give the guy money for the burger he gave me, which was kind of a shame but I understand he needs to make a living. They have stuff you can drink which will make you feel happy and start dancing. It's made up of fermented wheat and grains. They make this stuff here and call it "Home Brew"?. Whatever that jibberish means. All in all I left this place feeling like I ate some food and drank some beer and it didn't cost me a whole lot of paper currency.

April 22nd, 2017 Casa Azul

$30p for a shower. wifi password tapia2017
$80p to sleep in your vehicle and use the hostel services.

April 22nd, 2017 Camping El Relincho

April 22nd, 2017 Mirador, El Chaltén

April 21st, 2017 SENASA El Calafate

These people don't have a clue what they are doing, and by "these people" I mean the one lady who works here that can't actually authorize or stamp the forms because they don't have a SENASA veterinarian on staff anymore. She looks at your paper while smoking her cigarettes, drinking her matte and tells they you need to go back to Gregorio. Then tells my friend an hour later who tried that she can scan and send the paper up to Gregorio and they can stamp it and send it back. Great, problem solved. She send out paperwork over and says come back in 2 hours. (15 minutes before they close, on a Friday). We show to collect our paperwork and find out she left out important information for the vet in Gregorio and they can't do it until Monday. Hope you never need to deal with these people. Also, price is up to $80p

April 16th, 2017 Free parking lot camping

This is the parking lot to the waterfall. DISCLAIMER: According to the pamphlet they give you when you enter the park, this is NOT an authorized parking lot to sleep in, however we didn't know that before we dropped a bunch of exstacy. We were here earlier in the day, and being the professional photographers we are, figured the waterfalls and the mountain views would be perfect for a dopeass Instagram photo with the stars.... which it was!!!....so we hung out for sunset, made some dinner.... drank some whiskey....all in this parking lot, no one bothered us. Then the stars started to show and we thought "This is the perfect opportunity to roll on extacy". We took a couple pills and then hiked to the waterfall in the pitch black, a whole 300m. It was amazingggggggggg. The stars were talking to us. After about 91 hours of star gazing we returned to our Kombis to let our dogs pee....yeah we snuck our dogs in the park....oops...and my buddy read that this in the booklet that you can't sleep here because it doesn't have a bathroom. Well, we hate breaking rules...as I'm sure you can tell...but we were way too high to drive so we spent the night. Two Kombis, no one bothered us. We were also here in late April during "off season"

April 13th, 2017 Roberto Mechanic

Go somewhere else unless you don't mind waiting forever. Honestly, he's one of the nicest guys ever and his prices are very fair. I slept in my Kombi in his garage, uses his shower, met his family and had a great relationship. But everyday it was the same story "I'll finish this other car in 20 minutes and we'll get to yours. Then I waited around for 5 hours until he said it was too late and we would get to it tomorrow. Then we do a little work, another client shows up and he goes to working on their car. I've been here a week with an immobile car with a job that was maximum 2 days. Quick stuff like oil change, sure, he's your guy. Anything more involved, try finding someone else.

April 8th, 2017 Cocaine dealer

Ok so maybe not an actual cocaine dealer, but they may aswell be selling rocks of crack cocaine at this Panaderia. Their food is addictive. I found this place by accident and ended up gaining a solid 11kg my first 9 hours in Puerto Natales. By day three the owner made a special trip to visit me and thanked me because her youngest daughter can now attend Duke University, paid in full because of my time spent here. I don't want to tell you how to live your life but my suggestion is, when you decide to come indulge in these heaven sent handheld carbohydrate messages from God, is that your bring your stretchy pants and tell your grandkids there won't be any money left for them in the will. It's been 9 months and I'm still in Puerto Natales. I've rented a room above this Panaderia because it's gotten to a point that I can no longer sleep without the smells of fresh made empanadas, bread and fried potato pancakes tickling the inside of my nose. Say hi when you come by and please bring me food. I can no longer get out of the doorway.

April 6th, 2017 Not a Mechanic, but there is a Kombi here for parts

there's a guy here with a Kombi he strips and sells the parts. Not a TON left but has plenty of odds and ends. if you can't find something at the store. you might find it here. Motor and tranny gone.

April 2nd, 2017 Lakeside Ruta 9 N of Punta Arenas

Nice little spot if you have nice weather. We came when it was freezing and damp, but the night sky was worth it. Plenty of room for a few rigs, we were three. A bit of trash and not much shelter. There is a fire ring and some bushes. Please remember to clean to your trash. We headed just to the left down to the water and found a lakeside grassy clearing. Lot's of animal bones. Kinda cool.

April 2nd, 2017 At the lakeside

Nice Beach to walk on around the lake

March 30th, 2017 No longer available for Overlanding

This place is permanently closed.

March 30th, 2017 No longer available for Overlanding

surf farm sent me a message saying they will take legal action against all the people who park there from now on. I don't know if they can enforce it but that's what they said. overlanders have been trashing the place, leaving trash and causing disturbances.

March 16th, 2017 Spring

it may seem silly but we highly suggest filling up as much water as you can if you're headed to Ushuaia. the water in Ushauia is not potable and many locals suggest only drinking filtered or bottled water. we wish we knew this.

March 13th, 2017 Free Rio Pipo

can't seem to find my machete... anyone seen it?

March 8th, 2017 Hospedaje Bellavista Porvenir

Miguel is awesome. The hostel no longer offers beds, as the industry workers will be moving into the dorms but camping is ok in the yard. we were allowed to sleep in the Kombi for $5000clp and use the laundry for free. Breakfast is eggs, jam, bread, fresh ground coffee.... not the instant stuff for $3000clp. views are great. wifi is reasonably good. the house is very cozy and Miguel makes us feel like we're at home. didn't ask for money upfront, drove us into town for groceries and helped us locate stuff we needed. dog was ok in the house since he's chill

March 7th, 2017 Paso Lauritas Argentina Border
