March 15th, 2017 Eduardo Kessler - Independent Shipping Agent

Correction: Eduardo Kessler is a shipping agent, but not necessarily for Grimaldi. He is an independent agent and arranges shipping through many different companies.
We shipped our vehicle back to the US through him. It couldn't have been a better experience: great communication, he was VERY organized and took care of all of the details, everything happened exactly as he said it would and on time, AND, the amount for the shipping came in a little under what he quoted for the price! The whole process - from meeting with Eduardo to turn in paper work, to locking the container with our vehicle inside - took less than 3 hours, and absolutely no stress! Highly, highly recommend him!
And on top of all of this...Eduardo is just a really nice guy!

The address for his office is Piedras 509, suite 103. His email is [email protected]

We are two overlanders who drove from our home in Portland, Oregon USA to our home in Lencois, Bahia, Brasil. If we happen to be here when you are here we invite you to come by...share a beer or a glass of wine. And, we'll be happy to give you all of the information you need to fully enjoy Chapada Diamantina. Bem Vindo!

January 28th, 2017 Pousada do Ninho

An older home on the river that has been converted to a guesthouse. SECURE parking for rigs of all sizes. Close to Inhotim. Rooms with private bath. Wifi. Hot showers. Breakfast included. Very clean. We paid R$100.
We visited Inhotim and looked for a place to camp nearby at the end of day. Couldn't find anything, so ended up staying at this pousada. The owners didn't want us to camp so we stayed in one of their rooms. A great option close to Inhotim.

January 17th, 2017 Hotel E Camping Espaco Verde

New place. Hotel and camping. The owners are lovely and very anxious to please. Camping is still being developed, but there is a hot shower, nice bathroom, wifi and a good bar/restaurant. Good, secure, and level parking for big rigs. R$100 for two of us with breakfast.

January 9th, 2017 Yellow Plum tent house

Great experience here. A new place, and the owner, Carlos, is incredibly helpful and kind. Bathrooms and showers were fabulous: clean, heated and well equipped. The outdoor kitchen(s) are also very well equipped. A campfire is provided each night. Nice public space with tables. Good wifi!

Carlos is very helpful when it comes to planning your time in the area. He has been a professional guide for many years. Great knowledge of the park.

We parked our Landcruiser with rooftop tent in the driveway. It was a little tight, but it worked. Might be difficult for larger vehicles.

While outdoor space was lovely, could be cold if there are lower temperatures and wind.

Highly recommend this place AND Carlos!!!

November 6th, 2016 Hostal Casa Nativa Panama

What a great place to stay!!! We will have been here for almost a week while we've arranged for shipping our car to Cartagena. The hostel is very close to the Police Inspection station and the DIJ. More than that, it is flat out a great environment. The public spaces are comfortable and inviting, as well as a great opportunity to meet other travelers. The kitchen(s) are well stocked, very organized and clean! We rented a private room with a/c, but never needed the a/c. Excellent laundry machines. The neighborhood feels very safe. We were able to park our car in the secure driveway until we took it for shipping. The hostel is also close to a very good restaurant - The Country Store, and neare to a well stocked grocery store. The hosts are wonderful! Overall, just a great experience. Highly recommended.

November 4th, 2016 Oasis Surf Camp - Santa Catalina Surf Point

This place was my image of what it would be like to camp on the beach along the way on our trip. Campsite right on the beach!!! No other services needed :) The restrooms were so so, used by beach goes all day. The showers were pretty much just to rinse off in after being in the ocean. The owner was lovely and helpful, and the woman in the office was very nice (and helpful too!). We ate at the restaurant several times; food was so so, and service was slow.

November 3rd, 2016 Hostel Bambu

While this is not the cleanest hostel we've stayed in, it was very friendly and we met other interesting travelers. The hosts were extremely helpful and kind. The shower was hot! There is a washer and dryer - ahhh!!! We would stay here again!

November 1st, 2016 Purruja Lodge (NO CAMPING)

We rented a room because it was really rainy. Fabulous place - great palapa with table and kitchen area for public space. We used the BBQ grill. Incredible wildlife; at breakfast, first amazing birds, and then the monkeys. The owner is very hands on and very helpful. Rooms were clean and tidy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

October 30th, 2016 Hotel Plimio

This place works well to be near the beach. We rented a private room - very basic, marginally clean. The staff was somewhat helpful, although not overly friendly. They did direct us to a very untouched beach where enjoyed a beautiful afternoon.

October 27th, 2016 El Sol Verde

A thoroughly lovely place to stay! The owner is incredibly helpful and kind, and he keeps a beautiful place. Bathrooms are very clean. There is a nice covered dining area, and there is an outdoor kitchen for camper's use. The place is very close to a good place to eat and to the entrance for the nearby park.

October 21st, 2016 Aqua Park Hacienda El Jaral

It felt a little strange at first; we were the only people here and the woman running the place was preparing to leave for the day. She was very kind and helpful however - she prepared some food for us in the kitchen of the snack bar, and she offered us the wifi password (we didn't even ask :). There was a night guard, so we felt very safe. Showers were outdoor showers by the pool, so we didn't use them. Restrooms were clean and nice though.
This place is very close to the entry for the Copan Ruins.

October 14th, 2016 Rancho San Nicolas

Wonderful place to camp as we prepared to cross the border to Guatemala. Bathrooms were fine. People were helpful. The nightlife in the city was fabulous!

October 12th, 2016 Overlander Oasis

Wonderful place to stay - one night, or many! Calvin and Leanne are extremely helpful and welcoming! A respite for any overlander!
