The Shell station has been torn down and replaced by a Pilot

January 3rd, 2021 Pilot Truck Stop, with free Water and Dump Station

New in 2020 Pilot Truck Stop with fuel, propane, air, water, dump station. Water and dump are free, air costs money. Water is by the air which is on the south side of the parking lot. There is a Subway inside.

July 25th, 2020 Wild camping free

There are many spots back here. 2wd OK. Verizon 4G at turnoff, 3G further in. Popular area but dozens of spots available.

February 17th, 2020 Clear Creek Campground

Too many generators running all night. Nice creek with signs of beavers. Overpriced at $18/night. Has drinking water, pit toilets, and trash collection.

January 4th, 2020 Hole in the Wall Dispersed Camping

This road is a dry gravel wash. Once you get past the hole in the wall it opens up and there are lots of places to camp. We went 3.6 miles in and didn't see another person until we left. Very quite and beautiful. We did it in a two wheel sprinter.

January 3rd, 2020 Mesquite Springs Campground

$14 a night credit cards only. No cash. Nice bathrooms with dish washing sinks. Very windy, but beautiful and not a parking lot like many of the established campgrounds in Death Valley.

January 2nd, 2020 Homestake Dry Camp

Rough washboard road from the north. We came in our two-wheel drive sprinter, but it was shake, rattle and roll. Good tires are a must. We saw two blow outs on our way in. They were SUV's with street tires. Very quiet campspot and the wind stayed away to make for a very nice night. Took about 3 hours drive time from Ubehebe crater.

January 1st, 2020 Stovepipe General Store

General Store with a very poor selection of groceries. They have cereal but no milk, no eggs, no bread, just a few premade sandwiches and jerky. And t- shirts galore.

December 30th, 2019 Furnace Creek Laundry

$1 to wash and $1 to dry. Soap is sold in general store.

December 30th, 2019 Emigrant, Death Valley National Park

This is a gravel lot and very tight spots. Good for a night. Great views!

December 29th, 2019 Trona Pinnacles

Awesome area, lots of places to camp amoung the pinnacles. We were in a two wheel drive van. Road coming in was very muddy do to recent rains. Well worth the trouble to get here.

December 24th, 2019 New Camp

Nice place. It is close to the train tracks so bring earplugs for sleeping. Showers and bathrooms are nice. The visitor center is informative, and the ranger we spoke to was very knowledgeable about the Salton Sea.

December 23rd, 2019 Forest Finney Lake Campground

A hidden gem. Lots of ducks, geese, swans, and other birds. Bring earplugs because the train sounds its horn about a mile away. We got our 2wd high top Sprinter here. It was a bit muddy in places but no problem on the main track.

December 22nd, 2019 Painted Rock Petroglyphs Campground BLM

Quiet, nice big spots. $8. 50F low, 68F high in December. Nice petroglyphs.

January 5th, 2019 River Island State Park

Small campground in a side canyon next to the Colorado River. Sites 30 to 37 are best if 20 amp electrical hookups are sufficient or if you are in a tent. One of the few campgrounds where the tent sites are nicer than the RV sites. There is a big grassy area for the tents. Showers need to be remodeled, but work and are hot. Beach, boat ramp, hiking trail. There is a well-stocked small store 1/4 mile south.

Part of Arizona State Park system. $30/night for 20A sites. 30 amp cost more.

January 3rd, 2019 Fairplex KOA

$85/ night for a "Deluxe Patio Site" which was big enough for a long Sprinter plus a 20 ft trailer and Toyota Tacoma. Next to the LA County Fairgrounds. Sites are packed close. This is a place you stay to be a tourist in LA, but not for relaxing all day at camp.

Tent sites and Cabins are terrible, farthest from the bathroom, and you have to park your vehicle far from them.

Showers are awesome. Plenty of hot water. There is also a hot tub, pool and decent laundry. There is a sports bar with horse race betting across the street.

July 26th, 2018 Dexter Creek

Nice spot for the night. We were lucky there were lots of other campers all over the place.

July 25th, 2018 Green Ridge Campground - USFS

Some sites have shade, sites are pretty close together. $21 a night

July 24th, 2018 oliver reservoir bushell nb

Great place! Very quiet except for the train.

July 23rd, 2018 Soldier Creek Campground at Fort Robinson State Park

Nice campground, very rude people at check in. $20 for camping, $8 a day for state pass. They told me if I was not out by noon they would charge me another $8. I asked about laundry and it is in a totally different campground about a mile away and only has one washer and dryer. So, we spent our evening parked in a lot in another campground. Why I couldn't camp there I don't know? Showers are coin operated, couldn't find anyplace to fill up with water. Looks like a cool place with lots of history, but I am so put off by the rudeness I don't care. Sad!

July 22nd, 2018 Elk Mountain Campground (NPS)

Just like everyone else said, nice campground. $18 a night. Easy access to Cave tours.

July 21st, 2018 Badlands Camp

Down Forest Road 7116 about a mile south of the Minuteman Missle site. A flat area with Clay hills. Was recommended by Grasslands Visitor Center in Wall. Easy dirt road access in our 2 wheel drive van. Not recommended during rain, the clay can become impassable. We were all alone on a Saturday night. Beautiful sunset and stars!

July 20th, 2018 Kemp's Kamp

Not a bad place Tent sites are a little more spread out. Each Tent site has its own Ramada with picnic table. RV is a tight parking lot. Right on road, almost no night time traffic. A bit expensive, but close to Mt Rushmore, $37 a night for Tent site with electricity. RV was mostly full, Tent sites mostly open. Laundry, hot showers and a pool.

July 17th, 2018 Miles City KOA

Nice, big, shady spots for a KOA. No privacy. Laundry, hot showers and pool. Bathrooms clean but older.

July 17th, 2018 Cottonwood

Very nice campground. Sites are nicely spaced. We stayed two nights. A few sites are reservation, but most are first come first serve. Fills up most nights in summer by 3pm.

July 16th, 2018 Beaver Creek Campground - National Forest Service

Quiet, nice campground. Sites are nicely spaced out. Loops A and B can be reserved online. Loop C is first come first serve. Campground was full by 4pm on Saturday in July. Otherwise it was mostly empty. $15 a night. Half hour drive to west Yellowstone.

July 14th, 2018 Beaver Creek

Temporary-looking "Day-use Only" signs were up when we visited.

July 13th, 2018 Ennis State Park

Right on Madison River $12 if you have a Montana fishing license, $18 if no license. Really close to town and can see many houses from camp. Lots of mosquitoes in July. Great for fishermen.

July 12th, 2018 Free Camping

Very nice. Lots of birds and deer. Very quiet. Bring mosquito repellant. Someone painted with spray paint on some rocks "no camp". We decided it was probably a local, since the Forest Service wouldn't do that.

July 12th, 2018 Jim and Mary's RV Park

Great Bathrooms, lots of shade and beautiful flowers. We did not have cell service and were counting on WiFi. It kept kicking us off. Plus, lots of road noise.
