we went to the office here, booked a tour and where very happy! can highly recommend!
what we did: early bus to high region. breakfast with a local woman. a guide took us around the community, orchid garden, woods, waterfalls, local farmers. he spoke very good english. we had luch with a local family. bus ride back.
all day activity. we paid 20 usd per person including everything mentioned above exept bus ride (30 c pp).
its a cooperative. meaning that you pay everything in advance and get a small ticket for everything. during the day you gave the ticket to the person who cooked or guided etc. afterwards when they are in town they can collect the money at the office using the ticket.
tours can be very personal and tailerd to your needs.
(orchid garden is a joke and a scam. we recommend doing something else in stead. just ask the guide about it, he will explain it ;)
book a tour here, money well spend, for you and for them ;)

March 10th, 2020 Don Taco

The chilaquiles is out of this world. veggie means an egg in stead of chicken. they looked confused when i asked for it but is was awesome!

February 27th, 2020 Cerro Verde National Park

beautiful views. we parked next to the mirador and watched the sunset and had a nice view next morning.
we payed 14 to enter. 2 for the car and 3 per person per day. next day santa ana hike is 7 per person extra because this park is another then the volcan park.
bathrooms where very clean and guard very friendly.
can highly recommend this place to sleep. just beautiful.

February 27th, 2020 Salto Malacatiupan / Thermal Waterfalls

falls are free. parking is 2 dollars per car. take the road west or east. road from south is vey rocky.
falls are awesome. hot and they look good.
there are little animals in the water. they only eat the plants on the bottom so no worries. but be prepared. they will be all over you in seconds. the only place without them is the small pool on the other side of the falls where cold water mixes. there soaking is perfect.
can highly recommend the detour

February 2nd, 2020 Mirador - a break for the breaks

Beautiful viewpoint of the lake. you can see the lake and all the way to the fuego.
about 10 parking places, some shops and a toilet.
is about halfway de descent to panajachel. perfect to give the breaks a rest and let them cool down. don't know if its needed, but better save then sorry ;)
the steepest part starts here.
but no matter what, this point is an amazing viewpoint, you can not skip this place.

January 27th, 2020 Not for conventional RVs

you have two option to ascend ipala:
1. from the east. is only for 4wd but brings you all the way to the top.
2. from the west. but is a very steep road. walking the road to the start op the walking path is 45min to an hour. the walking path takes one hour. you can do this by horse if you want. takes also one hour.
we didnt risk the steep road. we did half the road by car. parked where the road turns from paved to concrete, because thats the very steep part. from there its 20 min walking up to start of walking path.
hitchhiking is very common here on both roads. we didnt even put or thumbs up. a local just stopt and gave us a free ride up.
very friendly and welcoming people living on the vulcano.
nice view and lake on top. can recommend!!!

But if you think this is cheap you have been going to the wrong places. this is a more expensive joint.
would not recommend.

January 13th, 2020 Sibun River - 30 km east Belmopan

we did not get here. first half of the road is gravel, second was mud. I added a picture of the last 200 meter. the minute i spent outside the car to take the picture i was eaten by bugs. we turned around and slept at cheers restaurant :(

January 12th, 2020 La Cubana - very bad

terrible place to sleep.
looks good during day. small rooms for two, not expensive.
But sportsbar next door is a party bar till midnight. windows dont close so street noise al night. ac so old that when one room uses it the whole building shakes and its like triyng to sleep on an airplane. and worst the owner doesnt care because she is one of the noisy people...
we would highly recommend to sleep far away from here.

January 4th, 2020 Punto Esmeralda public beach

no sleeping here.
we tried to spend the night but where woken by the police at midnight. they told us its not safe here at night and asked us to move to the city. we asked why its dangerous but they didnt want to give specifics. was an awkward conversation. we moved to walmart. pitty. was the only quit place in playa....
showers are 5 pesos. they turn of the water at 18...

December 15th, 2019 Dead Kitty camp sites

pro: biggest spot in the area. only one big enough for big rigs i think
con: big drop between street and gravel road, 2 feet. we did not risk it.
con: visible from road. only 10 feet away from it.
did not sleep here. chose las curvas instead.

December 15th, 2019 las curvas

Amazing place!!!
they are not pull outs, but small streets to the ocean. we found two.
first one is little north from here and very small. this iq the second one with two spots for cars and vans. no big rigs.
snorkeling is ok here. be prepared to fight musquitos!!
in the morning police came by. checked the papers of the car. very friendly. told us its ok to sleep here. left after one minute.
would recommend this place!!!

December 14th, 2019 Ferry to Cozumel and things

only for people. no cars. car ferrt is 10 km south.

December 13th, 2019 Free access trail to Playa Blanca

found the beach acces to blanca. only parking for cars. our van was to big.
parked 100m down the road on a gras spot.

December 4th, 2019 Campeche side street

we parked our car here during the day. felt safe. when we arrived for the evening they where practicing dance moves with loud music on the square. so we moved further next to the church. there we had a quit night. but.... in the morning they sound the bells. we where woken up at 6:45am :) then we slept for two hours more. thats how quit the street is
would recommend this place

December 3rd, 2019 Restaurante MAR Y CRUZ

asked to camp here and it was ok. after a dissapointing dinner we went to our van on a dissapointing beach. then they wanted 200 pesos if we wanted to sleep here. showers where locked so we have used our own and toilets are basic. no wifi. so we said no and moved to the wild camping spot next to this one. had a perfect and quit night there. would not recommend this place.
micheldas is basically just beer with ketchup. bah

December 3rd, 2019 Isla Aguada free

slept here after dissapointing meal next door. had a perfect night here. no noise. light ocean breeze. felt save. lots of lanterns leading to the beach scaring bad people away ;)
