October 14th, 2017 Canal de Beagle

Beautiful spot. Protection from wind and amazing views. The drive along the ruta J is just stunning.

October 13th, 2017 Picnic area, many places suitable for overnight ...

Good spot! Various places and protected from the wind.

October 12th, 2017 near beach

People are hanging around spending their evening here but okay for one night. The gas stations in town were very busy when we were there so decided to stay at this place.

October 10th, 2017 lago escondido

This place is permanently closed.

October 10th, 2017 Just North of Tolhuin

This place is permanently closed.

October 8th, 2017 Hostel Independencia

Good place if you want to sleep in your vehicle; 5000 pppn. The time we were there, they only had a few other guests and the communal places were already crowded.. Hot showers, fast WiFi and an awesome stove to use.

October 6th, 2017 Lago Azul Camping

The rangers allowed us to stay and sleep in the car, he said we'll meet a guy at the campsite but nobody was there. The communal area was filled with food and beverages of ecocamp patagonia so we used our own stove and tools (inside). The next morning a guy of ecocamp patagonia arrives and he was totally normal with us having breakfast inside. Hot showers and great view!!

October 5th, 2017 Parque Nacional Torres del Paine - Glacier Grey parking

Not much shelter for the wind, but toilets open all night. There's a building site next to the parking so you might wake up from loud music and construction sounds.

October 1st, 2017 grassy site near park entrance

Very quiet night, good spot close to the National Park.

September 29th, 2017 Route 40 construction zone

Today the road condition was fine, like mentioned before you can easily drive 70km/h. I suppose some parts (max 5 km in total) can get muddy with heavy rain. Too bad we didn't bring our Justin Timberlake cd..

September 29th, 2017 Casa Azul

The owners just arrived a day before so were still busy making everything ready for the season. The kitchen and living room were already super clean and heated! They offered us a night for 150 pesos for 2 persons in a car, super friendly.

September 28th, 2017 Old Private Gas Station

We didn't plan well on when and where crossing the border to Argentina so we ended up needing diesel and we were only having pesos chilenos. Super expensive, the guy didn't negociate at all. Our tip: when coming from the Chacabuco valley, fill up an extra jerrycan in Puerto Rio Tranquilo so you don't have to visit this guy..

September 26th, 2017 Dont take this road. not a 2WD road

A-ma-zing scenery and super okay road conditions!

September 26th, 2017 Parque Patagonia – Westwinds

We could stay on the parking lot of the campsite for free. Cold showers this time of year. The altitude of this place is around 800m, so I'm not sure if that made the hike tough.. ;)

September 24th, 2017 Casa Hostel

Cute little cabaña-style hostel. Warm shower en slow internet, but a good alternative for the more or less run down campsites in town. With 16 beds i imagine the living room will be packed in high season.

September 21st, 2017 Camping Ammonites

The indoor place with stove is good to warm up, you can use their wood. They don't seem to care too much about hygiene, "cleant" the bathroom one time in our 3 day stay.. But still, good option for 4000 pesos a person.

September 20th, 2017 Cerveceria Finisterra

Good beer and good prices. When we were there they had pale ale and porter on draft. Opened at 5:30pm

September 19th, 2017 Viewpoint on the cliffs

Very quiet night, just a few cars passing by. And, we saw a few dolphins in the morning!

September 18th, 2017 Parque Pumalín – Campsite Grande

Beautiful campsite with several big shelters. There was no water in the bathrooms but there's a creek running with fresh water. Free.

September 17th, 2017 Beach Camping Chaitén

Arrived in the dark and we were not able to acces the beach but stayed on the pul out next to the road. One dolphin spotted!

September 15th, 2017 Millaguen cabañas & camping

Great campsite; hot showers, WiFi at reception area, every site has power, light and a shelter. They let us stay until late in the afternoon since we had the ferry to Chaitèn at 6.30pm. 8000 pesos for 2 people and a car.

September 14th, 2017 Mirador Ten Ten

Large gravel parking lot, you might need some stones to level your car but there are plenty of them around. Stayed here on a friday night and it was quiet enough; heard a few people coming and going but not a lot of noise.

September 13th, 2017 Ballena Azul

We needed shelter from the wind and rain so we decided to pay for camping. Power outlets were not working and showers were far from warm. We were able to sit outside protected from rain and wind but a bit expensive for what you get; 4000 pp

September 10th, 2017 Cabanas Barlovento

Nice campground directly at the beach. Every site has a picknick table, power outlet and light. The sites are a bit small to fit in with a van but there are multiple options. Good WiFi covering the whole area, warm showers and communal shelter with sink.

September 8th, 2017 Playa Tril Tril

Er stayed 2 nights on a small parking next to the road overlooking the beach. Beautiful and quiet place, in only a few houses around were lights on. Some people coming and going on weekend days but all they left before dark.

September 8th, 2017 Panadería/Bakery Rostock

European style bakery, owner with german roots so i guess that makes it german then..? Very very expensive, paying almost 4000 for a bread just to think of home wasn't worth it for us.

September 7th, 2017 Skate Park Camp Lakeside Villarica

Gravel parking next to the skate ramp. Cars coming and going until 1am with a decent amount of reggaeton, after that quiet. Café in the cultural center has good coffee for a good price and fast WiFi.

September 7th, 2017 Volcan de Llaima

Big parking in front of the skislopes. Small ski area, 22.000 for a day pass on weekdays and 15.000 for a day of ski/snowboard rental. We spent 2 nights on the parking lot and went snowboarding 1 day, everybody was super okay with us staying there. Toilets until 8:30pm in the ski center, it also has a small restaurant/bar.

August 23rd, 2017 Copec Forecourt

A copec like all others. We did laundry here and spent the night; quiet in between the trucks.

August 22nd, 2017 Villa Rustika

Villa Rustika rents cabañas and rooms (25.000 pesos). Lovely garden to chill, WiFi, indoor heated pool and private parking. The owners lived in Europe for 10 years and are super friendly and helpfull. Ask for possibilities to sleep in your van, might be an option too.
