Free campspot on Arawana Road on the Crownland after the cattleguard a bit further on the left. Fire rings and leveled parking in the woods with some nice views. Maybee 1km or two on the dirt road so for most cars or rigs.Too tight for any trailer. Always lots of Québecors. **Watch out for bears don't leave food outside at night they come sometimes.**

This is actually Yodgor Guest House. spacious parking, small shop in the garden. They make dinner for you if you ask. They even had beer. Very friendly, Yodgor speaks english. We paid 20 TJS per night for sleeping in our car, not using their shower. Dinner was not really good, plov with 3 pieces of chewy meat.

We bought the permit for 1000 som, and you can get rooms recommended. First they wanted 800som for the cheapest room, but that was too much for us, then we got one recommended for 500.

We were denied entry into Cameroon today at Ekok crossing. They said it is too dangerous and the won’t allow tourists to cross.

We were there about 2 hours. We spoke with someone from the army who said that he was the one who gave the order to the consulates and embassies to stop issuing visas to overlanders. Everyone was extremely deferential to him so I think he was important. He said the situation is very bad. We went over the map with him to
Investigate alternatives. Importantly he said the Bissaula crossing is more dangerous than Ekok and NOT to take it. He said we could crossing near Gembu Nigeria which goes into the central region of Cameroon and said it would be safe.

Thankfully the Nigeria side let us go over and talk with Cameroon before stamping us out.

We rode down to Calabar and got a quote to take a ferry to Doulala for 350 USD each for our passage and motorbike. For a car the price is 1,000,000 cfa or about 1800 USD.

For us it’s not worth the risk to try up north. Also it’s been raining so much and I don’t want to ride in the muddy mountain roads haha.

Good luck to all.

really nice place for snorkling, cristal clear water and pretty deep. get there before 2pm, afterwards it gets very crowded and they only let a limited number of people swim at the same time, you might have to wait.

I’ll definitely echo the comments about rednecks, but everyone was friendly. If you go up Forest Rd 71 further there are lots of dispersed sites that are much quieter, but have no services. Beautiful drive and good sites. The site had some garbage and broken glass though, I think people use it as a party spot sometimes.

Nice Russian camp near a bay st Monahkhovo village. Lots of fishermen and families spend the night here. Every campspot has a small wooden shelter with benches. And there’s a small shop.

At the entrance (/staircase) to Alla hot spring. You can rent a room or camp on the site. Price for camping is 70 rbl. Lots of mosquitoes. Pit toilets, potable water available. Road is pretty good, it’s offroad but the track is clearly visible, we followed the path indicated on maps.me and it was accurate. Awesome views on the mountains, nice hot spring.

Nice hot spring. Free to use. Open 24/7. There’s a little banja-like house where you cam enter, the mud is said to be ‘magical’. There is some accommodation at the entrance. You can find it on maps.me. The main road from Barguzuin to Alla is pretty good and very scenic. The road to the spring is a track through the woods, about 6-7 km from the main road, there is a sign.

Most of the rock drawings are gone or vandalised with graffiti, but the caves are still very impressive. (And freezing cold, once you climb down.) 2,000 MNT entrance fee, to be paid at the ger camp.

Lonely Planet claims there are petroglyphs at 47.34124,91.93316 and burial mounds at 47.33963,91.93913, but we didn't take the car that far into the valley.

Coming from Khovd, take the track after the ТЭС petrol station. That track is pretty good all the way to the caves.

Only accessible by 4x4.
When coming from Imízcoz, look on the right side for a road heading straight up. Keep right and you'll find a hughe open spot. Top of the spot is more or less levelled out.
Beautifull camping spot with an almost 300 degree view.
Remember, wild camping is not allowed in Spain. So leave the site better then you found it!

We left the road toll gate at night, 3h of discussion reduced the price from 100.000 CF to 24.000CF (= 15$).
The night duty guy (yes, they check days and night) helped us to find the perfect bivouac for this location: The catholic church only 100m away (turn left just after the gate, and then right up to the hill.). We were welcomed there by father Thomas, a very king and welcoming person. The night was super quiet, and the morning will wake you up with the bells and the songs coming from the church.
Nevertheless, in the morning, a policeman from ANR (the local FBI) came to ask us to come to his office, as yesterday night, he hadn't check well enough our passeports ... There, we became the hostaged-guests of DGM office who decided to photocopy all the pages of the 5 passeports (we are traveling for 4 years ... ) in 4 copies with probably the slowest copy machine of the world ... Indeed it took 3h for the whole ...
At least, none of them asked for money or anything else.

Official toll gate for RN1 before entering Lukala.
All vehicles are paying.
Official price list pinned in the booth, same price for locals and internationals.
8.300CF or 5$ for a vehicle < 3,5T (valid till Matadi)
There again a guy from DGM insist to check our passeports, but claimed it would only take 5min, which was thrue for once.
More police check-points to be expected on the way (3 in 38km) before the bifurcation to Luosi.

Had no issue with the road here, it was unpaved but we'll maintained and in the best shape out of all the roads we've encountered thus far. Worth the trek in our opinion. It's about 12 different natural looking hot spring pools in the jungle. Super peaceful and relaxing! We were there on a Monday night and also woke up first thing in the morning and had the place to ourselves. You park on a giant grassy lot.... one of the cooler hot spring expierence we've had in a long time. A little pricey but worth it to us.
