Not a great wildcamp as it’s a steep sided hill, it’s the mirador over the town with a building on the top and houses half way up. Almost no options for out of sight, flat camping. We stayed at Taita Cristobal instead - great place!

Cheap option in this town - 60Q for a dorm room, hot showers and shared kitchen. Some space for bicycles along the alleyway.

Along this street, and some others in the area, you can find free parking. It is just next to a bike rental station, so very convenient to access the city. I would sleep here if I had to stay overnight, it is a quiet residential area.

Basic but very homely and welcoming hostel ($7 dorm beds) with camping option ($5 per tent). Shared kitchen and cold showers but at this price you can't complain. Very friendly owners. We enjoyed our stay.

Same as already been said - $12pp in very nice rooms with en-suite, good shower with towels and soap, quick wifi, but what sold it to us is that there’s a kitchen and dining room with a great oven! (They will make you breakfast and dinner too, but is $3-5 extra).
There’s a supermarket and big fruit/veg stall (only Monday/Tuesday) a 2 minute walk away and a Pichincha ATM, restaurants and bakery. They also have a bit of grass near the back (on either side of gravel parking lot) where they allow tent camping. Looked after two of our bags while we rode around Cotopaxi- they have secure luggage store (free). Very good place.

We were in contact with these guys through Facebook messenger and were going to stay but on the day they didn’t have any water so we went elsewhere. They seemed really friendly though and got back to us quickly. $5pp/pn in cabin and $5pp camping but can stay for more than one night for that $5.

Calle Espana: to avoid crazy fees from ATMs bring $$ and change to pesos. Price almost the exchange rate. very friendly. They all stand around and often have a calculator hanging out their pocket! Quite obvious which ones they are.

Couldn't fill our american gas bottle here; it's an gas station for cars; they were agree to fill but they (and I too) don't have an adaptator... So I went to Jovirec, in the south west of Santiago, and did it there.

We tried and tried to book online without success. Did the whole process up to making payment and each time we got an error message stating the amount due had changed. Sometimes the cost went up and other times it went down?? But whatever we couldn't make a booking.
Copa was straight forward although a bit more expensive.
Good luck!

We arrived in the dark and the entire road was closed due to rain. We were on bicycles and couldn’t see the condition of the road so did not go any further and decided to head into El Sauzal instead.

This is a rest area with a very informal campground tucked in behind it. We were cycle tourists and charge 200 pesos for the three of us. The area has lots of shaded spots with places to make fires. It has toilets but no water. There is a large sheltered area that would be perfect for a cycle tourist looking to get out of the rain or in need of shade for a few hours. We set out tents up under to protect them from the due, even though there was a lot of light. It even had a big fire place which we enjoyed. We were the only ones there but there was a lot of noise from the highway 1 which runs right next to the campground.
