We stayed here one night. We payed 200 lempiras for a rig with two people and 460 lempiras for the cheapest room for the other two people. Seems like the prices have doubled the last couple of years. The cabins with AC are 700 lempiras.

There is no cellular service in the park.

It was quiet since it was a Monday, but probably more busy during the weekend with local visitors. Nobody but workers and residents in the park. The cafeteria didn’t serve food as it didn’t have any and just sold snacks and water. It closes at 5 pm too. Would advise to bring everything you need to eat yourselves. You can also camp in your tents for 100 lempiras per person, but the guards kept warning us about the snakes that come out at night.

We felt safe, but were greeted with “no hay muertos aquí” when we asked at the gate if it was safe to camp. When we asked if we could swim in the river at 5pm the security guard told us we should do it earlier next morning as it might be people there after dark. The security guard had us move the car to a safer place closer to the hotel, but at the same time assuring us it was just a suggestion and that it was safe anyway. Not sure what to make of it. The security guard was in the area all night and there’s a military camp close too, so we felt pretty safe though there is a lot of traffic passing through the park and a small town and community in the middle of the park.

The botanical garden itself is OK, a lot of different trees and plants. Not very well kept unfortunately, but nice for a stroll and probably better with a guide. Lots of birds to watch.

March 2019: enter the wadi from the East, from Thibab, good gravel road till the last village Suwayh; two spots to park and stay for the night (2nd is nicer, but possibly a bit tricky for big rigs)
ca. 1h to the beautiful pools to the southwest
PS. you may get approached from a local (name Keflan) and invited for tea .. he will openly ask for money)

It’s at a beautiful location. Amazing place to fly drones as well with the abandoned buildings. A couple deep potholes yet able to drive around them. Thank Fabian for sharing this!!

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! When we arrived in the evening, we arranged to plug into the electricity at an additional fee. The next morning, the owner promptly removed the power cord and even after asking nicely on several occasions, never managed to plug in again. When we left a massive argument ensued with her demanding payment of EU4 for a bottle of water that was not consumed. Beware, as she starts drinking at 10h00 in the morning and is known by the locals to be quite aggressive when drunk. Did not eat at the restaurant, as we found a tyre with human excrement in it where they wash the dishes.

Abandoned hotel just on the side of the road that offer great wind protection for cyclists.
building is allready quiet damage and there is a bit of rubbish inside and around but does the job in case of windy day on your way to chile.
there is one door open at the back to enter the building and even a few well protected spots for tents
no water on site

Camping in the paradise of El Requeson costs you 150 Pesos - very expensive compared to other free beach camping options on Baja but how much do you have to pay for a place like this elsewhere in the world? There are no facilities except unusable pit toilets. El Requeson is much quieter than the other bays at Laguna Concepción and it is the most beautiful beach.

Alternate access road to 5 Palms hot springs. You are much less likely to get stuck taking this route. Many others are parked at the start of the road and walk in to be safe. We made it in our Chevy Duramax Ambulance with no problems.

Beautiful wild camping spot within a vast crater area with extraordinary sunset and great for stargazing at night. Takes about 90 minutes of sand/gravel travel to get there from the south and about 120 minutes of the same driving leaving towards NE. Very quiet and lonesome.

You have to enter the parking lot on the beach, but if you go around the pine trees there are plenty of covered areas to camp. Plenty of fire wood. Suitable for any type of rig. Very quiet. Nice town where you can buy supplies. No 4x4 needed. There is a sign at the entrance of the beach with rates for parking but we were there in March and nobody was there to collect money.

Chile to Argentina
just outside the tunnel you get a paper with stamp, licenceplate and number of persons. Drive on for 20k until Horcones, drive left. Single chilean-argentine immigration stamp at the small drive in boots. Then adouna, drive inside the big building. Central boots have a 3m heights destruction, higher vans pass on thé left. We got no control of our van, nor veg control. Argentine and Chilean cars use temporary export papers. If you are driving a foreing car you have to ask you TIP. Ik asked 8 months and got it without problems. We were here monday at the end of Vacation, so still some cueing. Easy going, but still a little more than 1 your because argentine cars going home. At Punta the Vacas 20k further down, the white paper you got at the tunnel should have 3 stamps and is collected by la gendarmeria.

very nice campground hidden from the main road. small gravel road to lead in and several campgrounds. there is a sign saying no fires but there are plenty of rock rings.

very windy but some of the camps are really sheltered if you can get in early. I imagine this place would get busy in holiday season!

We stayed here two nights in our Kombi and parked under the tree closest to the food court. It was a great spot and really safe. No problems having the top popped. Fast wi-fi and toilets in the back of the food court. We also used the ones at the cafe called Bengala across the street. Some loud music in connection with Carnival, but ear plugs saved our sleep. The park was quite dirty with trash so we did a clean up to give a little back to the city.
