i dont think you can get past the first few steep parts without 4x4. afterwards it's an easy road.

we had a great couple coffees here. Luís runs the business, his grandfather started their coffee farm years ago and he’s continued it to keep growing and harvesting beans, roasting and preparing their coffee. v60 and flat white were both great. bought some beans too. 2 drinks, 1/2lb of beans and a cinnamon bun for $9. wifi spotty in the food court but might work better some days he said. power outlets to charge devices. other food in same place

Was able to get a single bed in a triple room (queen + twin beds) private bath for 45s/noc. He let me bring my moto inside the gate. Very nice manager, George. Pool, and great hammock/lounge space. Excellent location. If you aren’t interested in the party scene, the beach and scenery becomes WAY more gorgeous just N of Mancora.

Very nice historical town. The museum is new and we really enjoyed it. The restaurant is good but a little pricey. Overall a nice afternoon spent

Beautiful hidden clearing perfect for bikers. At the far end there's a flat pocket with raised banks on 3 sides providing cover to fit a tent and your ride.

About 10min past the ecotourism site. Deers in the area... not sure what else!

Asked the guard if we could park here (and stay overnight) since our rig is to big to go to Flores. He had to ask his supervisor. Came back and asked us to park in front of the guard shack, but in the middle aisle. They were also adamant that they were not responsible for anything.

Guard was very helpful in suggesting things to see in the area.

TLDR: Weird service guy, not recommended to fill up here. Every other place we've been it's been super straightforward and simple, hand them the tank, they fill it, you pay. Here, the guy was really weird, acted like we were inconveniencing him by coming there. He attached the nozzle to our tank and it was hissing and he was saying 'no es propane, es air' and shaking his finger. (we had literally been using the tank to run our fridge and cook this morning, so it definitely works and still has some propane in it).... so we just told him to stop and give it back. maybe if you speak fluent Spanish it's possible to fill here.

Dropped of at 6pm, ready at 8am! ours was slightly larger than a basket, so 40q. There is no store front...it is just a car entrance where you have to walk to the back...see pic. Walking distance from center cultural...

Correction: if you follow the river bed on foot you will bypass the checkpoint where you pay to enter the valley. If you go by road the entire valley is paid (but if you go early enough the office is closed and therefore free). Just the facts, not condoning not paying to help the local community.

Entrance to a very cool gorge hike that leads to the end of the Quebrada del Diablo. Can be turned into a loop hike (~13km) by following the San Pedro river back. Some boulder climbing required, but very easy. The trails are visible in other mapping apps (maps.me, topo maps+ etc). If in doubt follow the horse paths, this seems to be a favourite with the horse tours.

so you don't really have to give anything. once you start driving towards the rope they will drop it. some people are a bit pushy so definitely don't give anything to them. I brought some sweets and gave them to friendly kids without ropes.

Quiet hostal right off downtown, walking distance to super market and many restaurants.

kitchen available for use.

Paid $25/private room with AC.

David was a wonderful host. Hostal was slow as the tourism has fallen in the last year. We were able to ride the motorbike up and into lobby, otherwise it would be street parking.

you don't really need a guide to come here. with maps me definitely so easy to find. even did it without it.
I wasn't sure whether it would be worth coming after riding through the deserts in Bolivia but it definitely was. the desert landscape changes a lot and the peninsula here is really nice too.
my recommendation is to start at 5 on cabo de la Vela so you see the sunrise on the desert. stay a night at punta gallinas. when you go back don't leave before sunrise because some parts of the desert get muddy overnight and need to dry.

Note than when coming from Granada, Google Maps may take you through this road on your way to Popoyo. We passed this way and the road is horrendous. No 4x4 needed but high clearance is required.
Better to get to Popoyo from Rivas.
