Stayed here twice, before and after the visit to Caye Caulker. I also made use of the storage option and left my bicycle here for a few days. Nathalie is very knowledgeable and attentive, also everything is super clean. Perfect place to recharge and relax.

Report Check-In

very nice place but really expensive just to park a van, Johana was very welcome and the WiFi is good.

Report Check-In

Nice place to store your vehicule for few days and go explore the islands. Natalie is such a welcoming person and you have everything you need here (shower, toilet, outside kitchen, etc…)

We felt very safe to leave our rig here for few days, the only downside is the price for the night (40BZD per person) which is a little expensive considering we have everything we need in our rig. Storage price is 10BZD per nights which makes more sense.

Report Check-In

New price for camping is 40BZD pp and storage is still 10BZD per night. WiFi was good and bathrooms clean. They drove us to the water taxi at 7 am so we could go to San Pedro

Now Wild Horse Cottage. Open and receiving overlanders for camping. Camping is $20bz per person per night. Also cabañas. Nice screened in kitchen and common area with tables, chairs, hammocks. WiFi just upgraded and you can even upload photos using it. Natalie is very responsive on WhatsApp +501 607-1873. Still offering car storage if you want to take the Thunderbolt water taxi to Ambergris Caye. Car storage $10bz per night.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

hello, we spent three days at the campsite. the horses are beautiful and the dogs are nice. we washed our vehicle on site to go to the islands. Nathalie very nice, she gave us all the info.

We were very disappointed! First, the campground is not at the beach as the photos on here might indicate. we didnt stay the night but asked for a shower. The french owner wasn't there but the nice girl at the place called her. She said the day use fee would be 10 belize dollars per person. We thought it's pricey but if you need a shower you need a shower...so we paid the 20 dollars for the two of us. After the shower we stayed around for ten minutes to dry our hair and used the Wi-Fi to text home. Suddenly the owners came and claimed the 20 dollars we paid were only to use the showers and we had to pay even more to use the facilities. We were confused as we were told it was a day fee we had paid. Owners weren't nice at all repeating that life isn't free - yes we know, thats why we just payed 20 belize dollars. we agreed to leave and were busy in the van for a few minutes that was parked outside their campground, looking at our map to decide where to go next. The owners didnt like that too, and talked about us to some friends at the fence constantly pointing at us like we were doing something wrong. Very very bad vibes and certainly not a backpackers paradise.

Hi ioverlanders, I am Nati the owner of Backpackers Paradise. I am very exited to welcome all travelers for the season 2019/ 2020. Dogs welcome, we have lots of space for them to run around the garden. If you had planned to visit the islands, you are very welcome to leave safely your vehicle here for 5 US a day. Camping remains 10 US per person per night. Its a very quiet natural spot, we only have one party a year for the Easter week end. The horses Duna and Shiva are waiting to meet you and say hello at your door step ! Bon voyage and see you soon ! you can whatsapp me at +501 607 18 73 for more info !

Agree with all the previous posts. Nice, thoughtful place. Very clean bathrooms/showers, common area with kitchen/fridge. And dog friendly! Nathalie, the owner, is very kind and knowledge of the area, and very willing to help with any needs. There are quite a few mosquitoes at this time...we took the ferry road, 2 hand cranked ferries (free), going through Copper Bank and Chunox, as it was the recommended route. Unpaved, hardpacked dirt, with quite a few pot holes. Took us 1.5 hrs from Corozal.

Would you please replace it by the actual address www.cabanasbelize.wordpress.com
thanks a lot for your time.
as well the prices for camping are since last year 10 US dollars per person per night.

Really great place to stay! Very friendly! Awesome beach town, a lot of retirees. Short walk or bike ride to town. Very safe. We have a travel trailer so didn’t need to stay in a cabaña but they were really nice and clean. Bathrooms and shower were very very clean.
Only warning we have is take the ferry roads!!! My bf thought he’d be smarter then google maps and went the long way around, it said only 30 mins more, we weren’t sure if we could fit on the ferry, but turns out the roads hadn’t been ground up yet and it was miserable trying to drive over all the pot holes. We went 10 miles an hour and a 2 hour drive turned into a 4 hour drive. Turns out if you are as big or smaller then a school bus you can ride the ferry. Otherwise this place was ssoooo worth it!

Nice place with high speed Internet and nice common areas with hammocks and a kitchen/fridge. Behind the room is a Avocado and a Mango tree with tons of them on it, so fruits for free:) Cabanas were also nice but i don't know the price. The way up here takes some time: From the Mexican border it's about 1 1/2 h with two ferries (free) and if you continue to Orange Walk Town it's 50km bumpy road. In the dry season it's no problem without 4WD but that may change after some rain. The road is bumpy but not too bad.The owner is very friendly! :)

Lovely clean, safe place. We left our van here for a few days while we went to Caye Caulker.

Report Check-In

looked nice but the owner told us she was having a big rave party with friends of hers for easter weekend.
she said we could stay but that it would have a lot of noise.
we left and went to the beachfront in the sarteneja, much more quiet spot.

Lovely and remains as described. We enjoyed our stay here and camped in our truck for 3 nights!

Report Check-In

Still a nice place. It’s as described before. $Belizean 12 pppn for camping.

Report Check-In

This is a good place. We really appreciated the large screened in common room with stocked kitchen, and really good wifi. Shower was hot, how nice! Everything was clean. We paid 20blz for two to camp and extra 5blz for electricity.

Report Check-In

This place is great, give it a chance. The owner, Nathalie is so accommodating. We had a power hookup, she set up a router close to our camp area (we were three rigs together) so we could get better wifi - which was awesome. The bathroom and shower were clean and has hot water, toilet seat, toilet paper and a mirror. they offer coffee and breakfast for sale in the mornings. It's a short and easy walk to the ocean and grocery store. Awesome restaurant in town - no frills but SOOO good...something del mar. This is a small town, you can find it. As a bonus, place is 420 friendly and helpful. We loved this place. Horses and dogs that live here are sweet and friendly.

Report Check-In

We spent one night in town of sartenejo then wanted Wi-Fi so we came here before continuing south. Paid 12bzd pp and 10bzd to use our AC that night. Wi-Fi was pretty good. Bathrooms were clean but men's required a bucket flush. no Wi-Fi in common room. Natalie very nice. she actually gave us a mosquito coil for the flies. They have bikes and horses for rent.

Report Check-In

Quiet and clean campground in the middle of the jungle! She has cabanas, as well. Wifi, bathrooms, showers (w hot water!), kitchen, screened-in communal room w hammocks. Serves breakfast and dinner for extra charge. Only a mile or so from the ferry that takes you to San Pedro where you can catch a water taxi to Caye Caulker. You can leave your car on her property for only 5B/day. Excellent place!

Report Check-In

We are not sure we found the same place, because it was awful. Rotting fruit all over was attracting tons of bugs. I got bit more in 10 minutes than in a weeks camping elsewhere. The restaurant is permanently closed. The screens in the common room have lots of holes. The place was a mess. We opted to camp at the nearby "On the Cove".

Report Check-In

Nice kitchen and dining area, decent internet, all you can eat mangos. 10min walk to beach.

Cost: 12BZD per person per night
Dates stayed: 30 December 2014-1 January 2015
The mosquito-screened common area was a good place to relax with hammocks, tables and chairs as well as a common kitchen. There is a dedicated modem in the common area as well. The staff were very friendly and introduced us to a local guide for a tour into the jungle. They also have small cabins with and without en suite toilets. It is quiet campground and is an easy walk into town.
Internet: Yes in the common area (dedicated modem) and restaurant

Report Check-In

Wifi in the common area now too, we parked our van right next to it and had no problems connecting from our vehicle. Price is 12bze/6us per person. Great showers, nice owners, abundant fruit trees, Mosquitos are a bummer, but the common areas are nicely screened in & have hammocks.

Report Check-In

After a needlessly long border crossing and an even longer drive over the worst road we’ve been on yet, watching the sun set behind us, we were super excited to arrive at this beautiful hostel/campground (dry camping) – PROS: restaurant on site (we didn’t eat there), short walk into town, screened in common room with camp kitchen, hot showers, fast free wifi in restaurant and common area (was a bit slow in our rig), plenty of outlets in common area to charge your electronics – CONS: very buggy, the road out to Sarteneja is a disaster (you know it’s bad when the border agent advises you against driving on it), bathrooms are pretty grimy – 6USD/person/night

Report Check-In

Beautiful hostel/hotel set on organic farm. Camping area next to screened in common room. Clean bathrooms, hot showers, wifi in restaurant, no electricity. 7B (3.50 USD)/person.

Price: 7B (3.50 USD)/person.

Report Check-In

Excellent mosquito-screened common area with tables, hammocks, power and a kitchen. Super friendly owners. Wifi in the restaurant, but doesn't reach the camping or common areas.
