closed. blocked with rocks and lots of graffiti

Nopes. Trash, graffiti everywhere, old sofa, mattress, several tires, plastic, glass, beer bottles, right by road. Zero stars unless you are exhausted and roll out early. Oh, and 47 minute drive from 29Palms. It looks shorter on the map. 4G 3-bars Verizon.

Perfect spot for the night! We went all the way up the road, not the most level but beautiful mountains and quiet! There is some glass rubbish around but otherwise nice!

We got confused as it was getting dark and ended up sleeping at the pull out. 10/10 would never come back. There is garbage everywhere: couches, seats from cars, glass all over, bullet casings, fireworks, everything is spray painted. I was uneasy all night long. The views were incredible but just stay at the casino or drive to the south entrance of the park.

This place is super nice this time of year. It wasn’t too hot or too cold for us sleeping in a tent. The ground was nice and soft and we managed to find a flat spot right where we put our tent. Road/trail to the site is sandy, especially if you go a little too far to the right or left of the existing tracks (almost got stuck since it was dark out and harder to see). Still doable in pretty much any vehicle as we did it in a 2004 VW Jetta without airing down the tires.

Great place to camp for a night - lots of stars visible and quiet (aside from the few cars passing on the main road) with flat land

Report Check-In

Can get far enough away from road to avoid most of noise but traffic light during stay.

Report Check-In

it’s very confusing but definitely works as a camping spot, it’s a large plot of flattened out land right next to the main road

Grateful for the landing spot! The views are gorgeous! The two-ish spots down the road spur that goes straight back are not too far off the road, less than a minute! You can see cars going by but can’t hear them. Really disappointed to see immense amounts of broken glass surrounding the area of the camp spot farthest back. Along with several shot gun shells. Maybe if the next 20 campers each picked up a little bit we could remove it all. Also, we had an intense experience with a small swarm of bees obsessed with our dogs water bowl but ... we are a whole bunch of new smells in their space in the desert so we stayed inside when dealing with food or drink. :) Overall, good for a night and a completely easy road. Cell service went in and out.

Camping along Amboy Road in Mojave Trails National Monument. Easy access on a small track with 2 or 3 camping opportunities. Far enough from the road to be quiet. During our visit was a great display of wildflowers around the Sheep Hole Mountains along Amboy Road.
