Description

This is a beautiful spot with fire ring not far off the highway. Some road noise but beautiful sunsets. 4x4 recommended but not absolutely necessary. Can be muddy after rain.

Easy to find the road off Rt 2, just go slow and try to get in before dark. The 1/4 mile road in was a bit overgrown but manageable in a 2WD van and a spotter, 4x4 would have been nice. There is a turn around spot just at the bend that is flat for setting up camp or protection from wind. Acres to water via rocky, private beach with wildflowers. Just off the road so there was a bit of traffic but the wind and beauty of lake washed it all out. There was a nice fire pit secluded by some trees for wind buffer but the whole place was littered with trash 😔 and animal carcasses. Maybe someone was living there for a bit? Either way this place was fun to get to and worth it for the natural beauty and proximity to road and travel route and doggie 🐾

just went in to see for myself this place. I have Nissan Titan so you can thru but it's tight one place to turn around or right on beach (rocks) someone forgot Reef flip flops

I have a lifted chevy express sits about 7'2 and it was a very tight fit to get back there. you'll definitely need 4x4 if it's wet. as stated previously it's rutted, but its the amount of large buried rocks in the ruts that makes it difficult. enough room for maybe 2 vehicles. I ended up leaving due to the sheer numbers of mosquitoes. but its definitely a beautiful little spot!

Really great spot right on the water great for swimming and nice fire pit.
made it in my stock 97 e150 2wd camper van .Ground clearance was close but cleared. No traction issues.

Report Check-In

The site is still accessible, I helped to establish a better fire ring while I was there. Stayed one night and was never bothered. Seen an unexplainable light with another eye witness. Came in like a meteorite, flashing yellow light 4 times right before the object stopped above our tent, I've never seen something stop so abruptly like that after flying at such velocity. I couldn't make out the shape of the object but when it flashed it would take a diamond formation. It slowly moved North flashing 3 more times before it took off as fast as it came in. A few moments later it came back, often changing directions abruptly before jetting off again. Minutes later I saw it high above the trees blinking 3 more times. After silence for another 5 minutes, the object flew above Lake Michigan left to right, about 3 football fields from the shoreline and 3 stories above the water leaving a streak of yellow light as it flew across. The time all of this occurred was between the hours of 12:50a.m.-1:15a.m. Whatever it was created no sound, and I estimate it was at times as high as an airplane would be, until making its pass above the water. Hopefully someone will catch a glimpse of what the two of us had seen in the future, best of luck.

Tight fit for my RAM 1500 with roof top tent. Will need 4x4 for sure. Branches will scrape from all sides of the vehicle. Great spot for one night. Please leave no trace.

small Access Road becoming overgrown we did fit pop up truck camper and was happy for ground clearance and four-wheel drive

Report Check-In

Hard to see trail, on Lake Michigan. Leads to the lake on a bed of rocks. Beautiful.

Nice place, all things stated in previous reviews are true!

Cool little spot right off the highway. A small spot on the beach you could level for a tent. Not much space. The road to the site is pretty bumpy and the 2-track is rutted. 8-10” deep ruts in places - looks like a few people dragged their diffs.

Report Check-In

It was tricky to see the road off the highway.

Road is very narrow with lots of low hanging branches. Would not recommend for wide or tall rigs.

Also wouldn’t advise after rain if you don’t have 4wd. It was a bit slippery.

We made it back to the secluded spot in our 2WD 2004 sprinter, but it was tricky.

Spot is private, with a small sandy beach, slippery rocks in the water. Beautiful views of Lake Michigan. We enjoyed a dip in the lake, as well as a colorful sunset.

It is a bit buggy.
