Clean and beautiful campground! This place is a gem. Great cell phone reception and this camp can act as a base camp for so many adventures in the area. I came in December during a warm spell and I had the place to myself

East Ridge campground. About 20 sites, few level. However, beautiful views, fire rings, picnic tables, vault toilet. No hookups or water at sites. $20/ night. Trails, many right out of the campsites.

$20 self pay. I was the only one here multiple nights, but that was during the week. Great little campground for the price and extremely quiet. If you’re car camping or in a van, I’d highly recommend staying here vs trying to park somewhere in town. Safety at night in town is definitely a concern. 2 bars of service and LTE with Verizon.

Campground atop a ridge near the Royal Gorge, overlooking Canon City. Beautiful, quiet place. Windy again today, but better than last night. You must pay $20 cash, pay at entrance. They do not take cc or checks.

20$ a night now, with 20< or so camping spots and fire rings. I’d imagine it fills up pretty quickly in season so get here early.

Around 12 camper sites and 12 tent sites, $20 per night, nice views of the mountains and city, absolutely no noise at night

Beautiful campground with lots of great trails nearby but pretty sure that it will not be free much longer. There is a pay station near the entrance and several signs directing you to it but it's not finished, still under construction. Also some other construction going on (looked like possibly water/electric lines) so making improvements means $$. Just be prepared to pay in season I'm guessing.

Awesome place! Free, clean and well maintained campsite. Spent 2 nights here. Close to awesome hiking/mt biking trails! It was fairly windy and cold at night but beautiful mild days and no snow. Will definitely return here!

Very nice large park with multiple picnic areas throughout the drive. Stayed at a rest area within the park, super clean, several picnic tables and fire pits. No other people around

Arrived late, staying at the trailhead parking lot on a Sat night with no one around. Late Sept, a little snowy, amazing dark sky!!

nice quiet campground this time of year. trails were a little snowy/icy and muddy bit very doable. saw one other vehicle who came in late and left early. we never heard them. it was also pretty windy. good t-mobile 4G coverage and pit toulets were clean.

Great free spot considering it’s a “official campground” - plenty of level spots with fire rings and tables as others have said. I’m here in the off season and it’s 19 degrees tonight but there are only 2 other campers and so it seems there’s a ton of privacy this time of year. We hiked a small portion of the Canyon Vista trail but after exploring the area a bit more I’d suggest the Canyon Rim trail in the afternoon and the Vista trail in the early day. The road seems well maintained (although it’s not snow covered right now) and they were actually doing some campsite maintenance today. It looks like they might be adding more spots on the south rim. I’m not really a “campground” type of camper but we are happy! I’m sure it’s busy when it’s warmer but even then I’m sure the views are worth it. The pictures attached are views
From the Canton Vista trail, the campground itself, and the rocky one is from the Canyon View point, a short drive around 1-2 miles (or longer hike via the canyon rim trail) from the campground.

Free. Great place for car/van camping and tent camping, small class C and B can easily fit. Most of the sights have picnic tables and fire pits. Pit toilets were super clean. 72 hour max stay every 2 weeks. Several trails to hike in area as well as the royal gorge just 2 miles away.

Nice campground. More to tents and car camping. Get there early as it fills up fast.
