Gate was closed and locked at the end of November, though I did find a spot to spend the night just down the road. Steep grades on the road but I made it in my RWD ambulance no problem.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot! The other comments cover pretty much everything - don't let the steep drive up fool you into thinking you're heading into solitude, it's a very popular place.
Report Check-InHopped and skipped up the 10k track in a fully loaded chevvy sonic. Sweet spot to spend a day or two
Report Check-InStayed at the camps on the East side. Stunning views. The road up to Jones Lake is about 10 km and is steep. Best done with a 4wd and good clearance. Campsites are free.
Report Check-InWell maintained campsites with stunning mountain views.
The road is a bit steep with lots of potholes. You need a vehicle with good clearance.
Tried to get there ! But the road was really tough so we just turn back.
Report Check-InWe weren’t able to get to the “middle” site as someone previously mentioned which is on the East Lake path. We were on the West which had beautiful views and a well kept pit toilet though lock broken. On this side the water had lots of wood and tree debris.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot. The road up to the lake (9km) feels like its never ending, but the view makes up for it.
Report Check-InAwesome views and decent campground. Locals know this place so expect holidays and weekends in summer to be busy. No reservations. Pit toilets were horrible and unbearable to even use. Dirt road in can be done without 4wd, potholes and decent elevation gain.
Report Check-InPerfect free spot for couple of days just relaxing. You can catch trout from the shores. You can hike around the lake also. There is 3 different free camping areas. Water is available in the middle campground. This here is tagged to the best place to park. A must visit spot!!! The road up here is 8,5km tirt road and steep. Did it with Sprinter mainly in 1'st gear :)
Report Check-InFantastic location, steep road that requires a vehicle with good clearance but not necessarily 4 WD.
Report Check-InLong road in. Steep incline but can be made with trailer. Lake is fairly big with decent fishing. Seemed well maintained.
