We missed the turn for the free spot, and as soon as we pulled in here, the guard came out to greet us. it was getting dark so we decided to stay. we were the only people there. we paid $150 MXN and it felt safe. there was a clean bathroom. flush toilets with toilet paper and sinks with running water and soap. no shower. there was a sign it is $10 mxn but there was no one there to collect when we went.
restaurant was OK for breakfast. most whale tour places closed, but you can inquire at the restaurant. we saw a boat leave really early. price was $3000 mxn for 2 hours, no whales. $4400 mxn for 2 hours if we see whales. there is a volleyball court and playground there as well.

Big parking lot bordering the mangroves next to the estuary and the Whale Watching tourism plaza and south of the big sardine packing plant.

Very clean quiet place especially now when there are no whales and no shrimp.

Very windy all day and breezy at night - the flies disappeared at dark, no mosquitoes and a nice cool 65 degrees.

Great place to cool off if you’ve been traveling the heat of southern Baja.

Our kids loved having a playground at the ready right outside.

Met some friendly older locals at the closed gate and were told we could camp here no problem.

The locals park outside the closed gates and use the area during the day.

The caretaker showed up at sundown and assured us that the place was incredibly safe, safer than its ever been….since he took the position 6 years ago.

He was very kind with the eyes of a holy man.
And the grip of retired lucha libre.

We paid him the requested contribution of 150mx without hesitation.

While you can camp here ($150p), do note that this spot and the other marked (same parking lot) is also the event centre for the town. We stayed last night unknowingly for the beauty pageant contest. Loud music started at sunset and went until 1am. The entire town came out and the parking lot was full. Everyone went home around 2am.

Whale fest starts Feb 3? And goes until the 5? We were told that it’s a big fiesta with music and dancing so keep that in mind if you are coming around that time.

On a non celebration night this place would be great. Once everyone went home it was super quiet. Toilets are open during the day for $5p.

All the tour operators, a few restaurants, and a couple shops are located here. Town is a short walk away.

Big parking lot. Still 150 pesos per night. Nothing is going on here until December... Very quiet and Gregorio, the person for security was very nice to us.

Be careful, the playground is very rusty and dangerous for kids...

Grand stationnement très tranquille. Rien ne se passe ici avant décembre. Gregorio, la personne de sécurité a été très gentil avec nous. Toujours 150 pesos par nuit.

Attention, le parc pour enfants est très rouillé et dangereux.

Spent last night here. smell from fish plant was bad with the wind but when wind died down it was ok. I rolled in around 530pm, there was another camper already there. They said they pd 150mx to a guy at the booth but I never saw anyone and was never asked to pay. Sunset and sunrise were beautiful. I saw one stray dog when I first got there but no more during the stay. It was quiet and felt safe. I would stay again..even if I had to pay next time.

In Puerto Adolfo López Mateos near to the Beach. Sandy area with some good restaurants. At the entrance there is a sign 10 Pesos/Person. But there was nobody at the kiosk, so we did'nt pay. I think it is because of off season. The toilets are very clean, get closed in the evening. 5 Pesos. The police came by and said it is o.K. to camp here.

Report Check-In

We arrived at 5:30 pm on a Friday in December. The gate to the parking lot was closed, and the "sereno" told us we couldn't park there overnight unless we were to take one of the whale watching tours -at 1500 pesos. The town looks ok but not much to see there. Definitely not recommended.

Report Check-In

We can't recommend this place. Especially when you arrive Sunday evening. It is really loud and crowdy. There are lots of boats for the Whale watching tours. It seemed they chased the whales. After a great natural experience at Laguna Ojo de Liebre we decided, that we don't want to support this tours because of the fast chasing boats.

You can stay fairly quiet overnight. After sunset it gets quiet and nobody disturbs you during night.

Report Check-In

Very nice whale watching facility. A couple restaurants and vendors. $20 pesos to enter parking, no charge to camp over night.

Some loud music (it was Saturday night) but not bad. Perfect place to crash before an early morning whale watching tour.

Attention! Do not visit this place for overnight camp! We did, and it was horrible. We moved middle in the night. When it is getting dark....the show begins..
A lot of....."drug"???? business is going on there. In front of the closed banos.....Expansive new Cars.....with very young guys....extrem loud music....till to the morning.....Cars coming.....cars going....everytime the same procedure.....It is definetly not safe there. We were lucky, course they didn't remark us, course we parked right to the paved, but closed main area.....
DO NOT GO THERE FOR OVERNIGHT STAY.

Report Check-In

This is basically pretty huge paved parking lot which is empty off whale season. Stayed overnight there, fairly quiet, although 20 cars showed up to look at my RV (at least they made a turn and drove away immediately) at night. During the season there is a restaurant and bathrooms, not sure if they will let you park there though. Maybe for a small fee.
