Gps location by approximation.
After the gate you are allowed to camp anywhere ‘up the canyon’. We followed the old dirt road that goes right of the asphalt track just after the entry gate. We had a big thunderstorm and strong wind (slept in the car instead of RTT), but with awesome views of the clouds. Not much wind shelter in this area, but a quiet and nice place to spend the night. There are a few more places around in these hills with good views, but not much wind shelter and no shade.
Nice and quiet place. Probably the only option to sleep close to the canyon and a little out of sight. We had no wind at all, check windy.com for wind forecast (no Beeline KZ reception).
