Description

Designated campsites ( rv and tent ). Nothing other than modern pit toilets, picnic tables, and fire pits (altho frequent fire bans in effect. ) a few trees for a bit of shade. Remote. Good facility given the circumstances. Boat ramp at bottom of hill for the whole reason to come here: Snake River / Hell’s Canyon. Fantastic.

Established campground is $15 for those less than 65. Dispersed camping at end of road at Snake River Trailhead. Aka parking in lot with walk-in access to picnic tables and firepits. On official map of area as camping area, and ranger office in Riggings suggested it as option. Pit toilet in parking lot. Only room for vans/ truck campers / tents. Active trainhead on sunny days. Amazing hike 12 mi out and back to Kirkwood Ranch Museum.

Nice campground, $8 /night. Beware of the snakes!
Nice loop with several sites (don’t know actual number, I think 30). We stayed in site 18 which has a nice path to the river, probably 1/8 of a mile, but you can see the river easily from the site. The fire ring area is uneven, but we used our solo instead so no worries. Seems to have some decent atv trails for exploring. The description is very accurate, steep, steep grades to get here and I wouldn’t even want to think of it in the winter. Gets very hot here in the summer as expected 👍

Nice little camping site at a trailhead. Low elevation makes it great for winter but the road in can be super sketchy/steep/icy in the winter. Water from the Snake River isn’t the best to filter due to agricultural runoff/pollutants.
