Family owned, tent only, campsite. Along the main road. Can make reservation or just drive in, which is what I did. Sites all have picnic tables and fire pit. There are bbqs for use in the “day use” area. A couple bathrooms and there is a small hike from the campsite. The couple sells wood. There are water pumps as well. Right on a side road near Mt Rushmore, so can be loud during the day with RVs abs such driving by, but quiet at night. Dog friendly. 20$ plus 2$ for the dog, but your pass also is used as the day parking pass for many of the hiking trails in the area, so you save on that. I tend to use this site to find more off the beaten path places, but sometimes after a few days of that it’s nice to just set up camp early and be done for the day to relax and enjoy camping.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
This is usfs campground. $24 cash or check for first come sites. $12 senior usa card. Reservations need 4day advance. Pay at host site only. And host patrols for camping. Rules are posted on kiosk on entry.
Report Check-In$24 Cash/cheque only for minivan camping (ATM in town). Quiet overnight camping, lovely place very close to Mt.Rushmore. Water tap on site and pit toilets.
Report Check-InGreat quiet place apparently off the beaten path because Sturgis is going on but there are several available sites. $24 unless you have the America the Beautiful pass then it’s $12. Host says the most action I’ll see is a few deer that pass through at night. No bears (or bulls). I’m in #16 fairly close to the pit bathroom and it also has water. I believe there are two unisex pit toilets. Host is friendly and helpful.
Report Check-InQuiet, secluded, very friendly, helpful staff. Nice place to stay on our way to Mt Rushmore. Water available but lots of chlorine.
Report Check-InNice place in the forest with some nice hiking trails. It was very quiet when we stayed here
