This spot is fine again, was sketchy for awhile but it’s fine again, don’t be weird

Report Check-In

Heard to be a really good spot but we’ve been staying here for a few days now and the cops have came for the past two nights telling us to leave. We just got a parking ticket tonight for the street cleaning which they’ve never done before. Seems like van alley is coming to an end

100% is still a good place to crash. Also there’s so many vans and campers here it’s feels like there’s an unspoken sense of comradery here.

Report Check-In

the place was closed when we got there unfortunately

When I arrived, there was no parking available on the actual street, so get there early. That said, I stayed on Kent, right nearby. There was a lot of pedestrian traffic (both foot and bikes) as well as a lot of vehicle traffic. No one bothered me while I was there, it was just a bit loud and I'd recommend having window coverings as well as maybe some earplugs. As others have said though, it's a fantastic view. There's also public restrooms in a nearby park you can use.

Report Check-In

We spent 7 nights here in our truck.
There were always 5-6 other vanlifers here which have a sense of community.
It can be noisy with locals coming down here late at night to smoke weed & play their music. You’ll probably need ear plugs to block out the sound but the leave everyone there alone.

There’s always van people here, I’m very confused by the last review, that’s not the vibe of the block at all

Beautiful view of the city, however around 9 PM there was a large group of men hanging out who watched us get into our van. Shortly after they began harassing us by beating on the sides of our van and throwing hard objects at our windows (at least one was a golf ball size rock). We have a child with us so we ended up calling police and leaving as we were afraid of retaliation. Since moving into our van ten months ago this is our first instance of direct aggression and it left us pretty shaken. This is a dead end street with no people around and only one entrance/exit. If we had not been parked facing the street we would not have been able to escape this situation. Seems like this spot works for most people, but we moved towards McCarren Park and had no issues.

Parked/lived here for months. Miss this spot

The original location is not where the parking is. Continue all the way down to the end of N 11th street. Awesome spot to stay in the city with a beautiful view of the NYC skyline. Can get a little noisy at night, but all in all wasn’t bad. Stayed for two days, make sure to check street cleaning!
