Description

Quiet boat ramp, quiet night. Virtually no traffic on the road.
During the day we visited 3 other beautiful boat ramps on Lake Marion and nearby Lake Moultrie, none of them displayed any restriction for overnight parking.

Latest Check-Ins

There are some “no camping” signs posted. We pulled in and got talking to a local. He said the signs were new and in response to someone who had stayed there for several days with a UHaul and let chickens run round! So they stopped allowing overnight stays. He said it would be unlikely the police would enforce it unless someone complained, since the site is managed by a local utility (hydroelectric?) company. Anyway he was friendly enough and we decided to chance it. Another van also showed up for the night and we were undisturbed. Note the whole lot is bathed in very bright floodlights.
The guy also mentioned the ramp gets very busy in duck hunting season with people arriving through the night to be up at dawn.

Report Check-In

As posted, this is a public boat ramp. I was going to overnight at Cracker Barrel, but saw via overlander that this was only 14 minutes away. I pulled in around 10PM and was actually driving following a sheriff into the parking lot. We both parked at the same time. He drove slowly past my vehicle, perhaps noticed the out of state plate, and left. I wasn't bothered all night. This feels like a quiet, residential community so I felt safe as a single female. Only car overnight and a few cars early morning to fish. The parking lot is HUGE so it will accommodate larger folks. One of those secret places that is safe, easy off the highway, and a gem. Enjoy!

The spot is so beautiful and peaceful. We saw an incredible sunset and sunrise there. Locals are very nice and friendly. Very quiet at night but fishmans starts to come right before sunrise so might ear some engines then. But we recommend you to get out of bed and see the beauty early ! :)

Gorgeous spot with most beautiful sunset of my life. Nice to chill by water and too many bugs. Sheriff arrived around sunset and briefly asked how we were doing and seemed friendly before leaving. Although a little spooked we stayed without a problem and awoke to a half full lot Saturday morning. Not many bathroom options in the area.

Report Check-In

Nice lot next to the boat ramp. We stayed for one night and had no issues, no one bothered us. There were cars and trucks come and going in the evening and the morning to fish but it was still a very quiet location and the view of the lake is amazing. No amenities but good cell service on verizon. Also the spots in the lot are almost all oversized for trucks with boat trailers so definitely big rig friendly.

Report Check-In

Large parking area at boat ramp next to Lake Marion about 15min from highway. Just behind residential neighborhood. We were the only ones overnight but many boaters early in the morning using boat ramp. No one bothered us. The lake has gators so we kept our dogs on leash when outside as there is a marsh area next to parking on left hand side. We parked in the middle.

Report Check-In

Very large, quiet parking lot next to a lake. No signs about overnight parking. We had no issues sleeping here in our Sprinter van. There are quite a few houses near by, so be descreet as possible to keep the spot available. No amenities, but good cell service on ATT.

Report Check-In

We spent Saturday night here, and the only people who bothered us were some seemingly drunk teenagers blasting music for an hour in the middle of the night. No law enforcement arrived to that very noticeable disturbance so it seems highly unlikely any overlander minding their own business would ever be bothered. Zero amenities; not even a trashcan, and very well lit.
