Mexico
No problemo. Quick check. asked where we are going. Sometimes, they search vehicles.
We don't have any photos of this place yet.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
southbound, asked where we're from, where we're going. did a quick inspection inside van.
Report Check-InGoing south. We rolled down our window as they flagged us to to stop, but didn’t ask any questions and waved us through.
Report Check-InQuick questions and no search. Friendly and not a lot of traffic either.
Report Check-InWe got waved through heading north. Try to avoid traveling through during Holy Week because the line to just pass through the checkpoint was at least an hour and locals were constantly passing on the other side of the road. SUPER busy, bring your patience
Report Check-InFast and uneventful. Asked where I was going, when I said San Felipe, he asked if I had a house there. Said no, camping. He nodded and pondered something but then just said Good Day.
Report Check-InWe were coming from the 3, which already had a check point… pulled up to this one in the farthest lane to the right and they just waved us on thru. Probably because they saw us coming from the other check point.
Report Check-InBit of a wait, but asked us (in Spanish) if we’re carrying cargo, we told him we’re an RV headed to San Felipe, and he waved us through.
Report Check-InTraveling with a tuck camper. Waved on through this afternoon. No questions asked.
Report Check-InWe stoped, they asked where we were going, San felipe, ok bye! 😁
Report Check-Ini think most of the people write just when they have a bad experience! When we went trough the checkpoint, they waved us through without checking anything!
Report Check-InTHEFT!!!
My husband (driver) had to get out of the car to open all doors around our campervan! Then he asked also me to get out. I heard some paper noise and looket at the inspector but couldn‘t see what it was. After inspecting the car and asking for some water for his puppy we could go. A few meters away we recognised he had stolen 1200 peaos and our credit card out of my husbands wallet (which was stored in the drivers door and we found on the drivers floor). Went back but of course they denied! Keep an eye on your belongings!!!
I don't know where to report sexual assault but it got the typical turning over of everything I has neatly organized then for a second time the guy holding the gun asked me to lean up on the car and grabbed my man junk hard. Couldn't tell if it was sexual or a power move or both. Just after he asked if I liked being in Mexico. He was shorter than most a bit to chatty, I wouldn't rule out him being drunk.
I don't know what to do about it other than warn other people, I'd hate anyone else to experience that. Northbound, of course.
Quick stop. Asked where we were going, where we were from. Got into the back of our camper and looked around. Just a few minutes total. Very friendly.
Sign at checkpoint tells vehicle motorists to hold onto valuables (cell phones, money, laptops, camera, passport, etc..) and watch the military guard when they are looking through your stuff.
Report Check-InHe must not like dogs, as soon as he saw my dog he shut the door and said "OK, go".
Report Check-InThe exact spot is actually right under the overpass, just so everyone knows. Northbound: guy asked the usual questions, but wanted to come inside this time. And then asked to open our fanny pack (wallet/purse thing which was hanging on the passenger seat)… we opened it and he peeked inside and cleared us to go. Every single checkpoint is a different experience, every person is a different inspector.
Report Check-InEasy experience, wanted to know where we were going and purpose of our visit. Asked us to open our side door, didn't come inside (we're a low roof) but wanted us to open all the cabinets he could see from the door. He was friendly and pet our dog and sent us on our way! Didn't ask to see any papers.
Report Check-InSouthbound. Opened the slider door of our van, asked if we had weed, where we came from/going then let us move on. We speak spanish, which helps with some of the checkpoint guys.
Report Check-InThey did a very thorough check of our van and all the other vehicles coming through. Took a while, but it was fine.
Report Check-InSouthbound on MX5 in a camper van. Easy breezy experience. Asked to open our back doors and briefly looked around with flashlight. Asked if we were heading to San Felipe. They did not ask to see passports or the purpose of our trip. Quick stop, less than 10min. Polite & kind exchange. Buenas vibras!
Report Check-InHeading south turned around due to covid... appears to be a way around it from highway 3.
edit we went south off of highway 3 through the desert near the windmills.
Report Check-InI think your experience here just depends on who you get. We had to open up the back of our rig and the guy just glanced in each cubby. He asked us a few questions and we were on our way. No struggle at all.
Report Check-InNo hassle checkpoint. Asked us to open the trunk, looked over a few drawers and off we went. We came on the Hwy 3 checkpoint. Hwy 5 is a different checkpoint.
Report Check-InWe had a weird experience here, too. The guy gave us a big scowl and said, "You are rich." I said, "right, here in my second hand clothes!" creepy.
Report Check-Instop us for regular check and stuck there for hour and half, stash your weed better for the first check point ;). just write our details and let us go after massiv search in our RV
Report Check-InJust a quick check in our camper. asked us some questions. did only last 3 minutes.
Report Check-InThese guys went through my van quite a bit. lots of kidding around but harmless for the most part.
Report Check-InQuestions on where we are and where we go. They had a quick look inside. It took 2 minutes
Report Check-InThey asked us to step out of the car, and searched the whole van, asking if we have cannabis.
Report Check-Init took us 10 minutes to clear this checkpoint although all the conversation was in spanish and with a really strange vibe. They asked to see our passports and then looked inside our van, asked us to open couple of drawers and cupboards, asked us if we were doing drugs and stared at the scarred kiddos for an awkward long minute without saying anything. One of them "Juarez" had a really cold look asking lots of questions when I told him I lived in MX 12 years ago, he asked me what I did back then, what I studied (I graduated 12 years ago), where we are going, where we came from. His colleagues were much nicer but it felt like he was thinking about what to do with us instead of clearing us as it usually happens at such check points. First time I felt I had to watch carefully their hands whilst they inspected our rig to make sure no drugs appear out of nowhere but it's only my impressions/ instinct as we were back on the road within 10 minutes but even my wife had the same feelings about this chap and his questions.
Report Check-Inwe were asked where are we coming from and going to. no problem.
Report Check-InActually searching all cars today. Took some time to get through, but melow.
