Possibility to camp and trailhead to volcano from here. You can get permisos and Guide. Takes 5 hrs up and 3 down. Rough Road from puracé. Restaurant on site. 3466m altitude. Can also Rent cabañas here. We didn't stay. Too high for our son. But looked nice.

Camped there in our camper van for free after paying the entrance fee of 40k pp during the week. Had a great meal: trout/trucha for 10k with sopa and hot agua canela, also vegetarian dish with eggs for 6k.

Road here from Popayan is paved until last 12 km (one small dirt section when you cross the first bridge after turning from Hwy 20 to Hwy 24). 4x4 or high clearance not required. We were told only gave to pay park entry fee when you actually enter park. We were not stopped at turn off Hwy 24 to pay anything. Very quiet nights here. Banos have seats and TP. Disappointedly we did not learn till next morning when trying to arrange hike up volcano for following day, that due to a government strike, there were no guides! so ask upon arrival. only charged us 5000 to sleep in our vehicle.

Price for camping on the parkinglot is 5'000 pesos per Person. Toilets are clean. Very friendly staff. the entrance fee to the park ist 40'000 on weekdays, 50'000 on weekend.

2017 the price for foreigners is 40000 in the weekends and 20000 during the week (after bargaining). They (the indigenous council) alleged the increase of the price was because there was too much people coming and they were destroying the nature and the money they collect wasn't enough to do maintenance. The ranger told us that now they receive 10 times less people, do the math.

Good place to base yourself for a hike up the volcano. 10k per person for entrance to the park, 5k/night to sleep in the car, and 35k for a guide (which is required). They're still figuring out the guide program so a bit of patience is required. We left for the hike around 8am and got back around 4pm. Bathrooms, cold shower, and restaurant. There is wifi but it's super limited (Whatsapp and texts). Here's the password since they'll likely tell you it's "not working": [Password removed by Moderator.]

Rush by the guy at the intersection from the main road. He's complicated and annoying. Since its Indigena land, you have to pay 5000/P for access one time. Camping in the car is free. Tent is an additional 5000/P. There are several locals at the cabanas and all tell you different prices;)
Hike is approx 12km and 1400m elevation gain to 4650m altitude. Guide mandatory for 35k / group. However you can also drive to the deserted military base at 4050m altitude. Several nice pullouts to camp. Might have to pay access fee as well.
