Description

This is a fishing/wildlife reserve, approximately 45km south of Rio Grande on the RN3. It is not easy to spot. There is a gate on the left hand side of the road as you are heading south and it is just before the RN3 starts to head inland and away from the coast. The site is obviously popular with local fishermen and there was evidence of informal fire pits. The road in is a little rough and after 300 meters there is a Y junction, big rigs should go to the left towards the beach as the right hand fork goes down to a really rough road leading to the headland point and is only suitable really for 4 wheel drive vehicles. There are plenty of spots to camp...it is of course windy, but you are quite away from the road so little road noise. There is as always some rubbish but not as bad as some places we have camped.

Report Check-In

Joli spot accessible même en camping-car. Calme. Pas abrité du vent mais cela ne nous a pas gêné. Donne directement sur une plage de galet.

Schöner ruhiger Platz an der Ruta 3. Ca. 30 km nördlich von Rio Grande.

Report Check-In

Tough road with deep holes to get to the end above the cliff (no wind protection). Probably very slippery when wet. Even when dry not fit for 2 WD or low car. Beautiful view of coastline and lots of birds.

Spot with wind protection is first fork left, its sort of a hole in the gravel.

Disappointing amount of plastic basura in this nature reserve… It is everywhere… from in the sand in the dunes to a whole beach covered with plastic basura. We took one garbagebag with us but it was so much…Poor birds.

Report Check-In

Nice spot Just away from the road, entrance is hard to notice but you will find it.
We took the right part of the road but could not go very far up the road, to rough for our 4x4 camper. No windprotection and a lot of plastic on the beach, looks like a landfill now.
But a nice place to camp for the night.

Report Check-In

Great spot close to the sea, not far from the road but though quiet and beautiful. Not so much wind protection, but okay.

Report Check-In

Good spot in the nature by the sea. We took left at the Y junction and slept in front of the sea (heading south) protected from the wind. Some part were muddy and rained in the morning, take caution.
The track makes a loop along the coast from the spot on the app, ok with 2WD high clearance.

Report Check-In

Good place but no protection if the wind starts to blow (very strong in our case). Be carefull with possible glass shards or other detritus if you have a tent.

Report Check-In

Very beautiful place and good place for a night of rest, a snack. Very wind but with places that can soften and have a very good stay.

Report Check-In

Good spot, well hidden from the road (visibility and noise).
We were covered by the wind.
Not so dirty so keep on !

Report Check-In

Not far from road but quiet and well hidden. Some protection from wind behind dunes on right hand side. Good spot for a night during a very windy ride to Rio Grande

Report Check-In

Nice and quiet spot (except some cars in the distance before night time). No wind protection, but ok with a good tent. Ground is hard, freestanding tents are advantageous. A lot of garbage lying around, mostly plastic, did not see glass.

The access road to here isn’t that good but you definitely don’t need 4wd to drive here. There is no wind cover if you drive to the left from Y junction. Any size or make rig will do just fine if you drive to the right side from Y junction. Just go slow. Plenty of spaces to choose from.

Report Check-In

Nice place with wind protection when you go to the right. The track is not in very good condition, but we did it with our VW Bus with 2WD.
Quiet at night and you are invisible from the RN3.

Report Check-In

Road from Tolhuin to Rio Grande was long and windy (on bike) so this was a good wild camp spot. Some litter but a sheltered spot away from the road.

Report Check-In

Between the dunes not too windy, still exposed to wind. Far sounds of the highway, but apart of it quiet. Good for an overnight stay.

Report Check-In

Very nice spot on the road between Rio Grande and Tolhuin. Protect from the road, quiet and very nice landscape

Report Check-In

Perfect place on the way down/ from Ushuaia even for a cappuccino break!

Report Check-In

We parked close to the beach (left at the Y-junction).
There was hardly no wind, so a perfect place.
Nice: a camp site in nature close to the highway!

Report Check-In

Good place for an overnight. There is a place with good wind shelter when you drive right at the Y on the left side between the dunes. No fishermen when we stayed.

Report Check-In

Fine in 2wd mode in the dry. Wing shelter in the dunes and good views. Hidden from the road with no noise.

Report Check-In

Superbe bivouac en bord de mer. Possibilité de planter une tente et de s'abriter du vent en prenant à droite au niveau de la fourche en Y.
