Peru
There were at least 10 police officers on both sides of the road at this checkpoint. Unfortunately, we were stopped due to not having our lights on the Panamerican Highway, which we didn't know. The policeman was very nice and respectful at all times, and he told us directly that he'd either write the fine for 500 Soles (not sure if that is the actual amount for this infraction) or that he would take a bribe from us. We told him we would rather go to the nearest bank and pay the fine. He walked around the car, started writing the ticket, and it felt like he was waiting us out to see if we'd give in. When he returned to our window, he said he was going to let us go with a warning and to make sure we followed the rules moving forward.
We don't have any photos of this place yet.

no police checkpoint on the street, also not further north. good travels!
Report Check-InAgree with last comment. Nothing along this section today either.
Report Check-InAs noted previously. The checkpoint is further north at Ovalo Arenita. Got stopped again just down the road at Pi Alto.
Cursory document check both times, then we were on our way again.
Report Check-InToday the checkpoint is cerca 8km more north. Lot of Police. They stopped us because we wear no seat belts. We drive a historic car and have no seat belts. The cop wanted to give us a Ticket. We said NO and told him about the Geneva Convention which says that they have to accept your car like it IS, for that we have the TIP. After some minutes he wished us a good trip. 😊
Report Check-InPasamos a las 8 am en viernes y no había ningún policía de tránsito.
Report Check-InWe've got the same about the lights. And he said about the seatbelt. So he tried to put my friend aside and told about the rules. But after 10min he let us go. So put your lights on on the panamaricam.
