Something not right?

Description

The stretch of highway between Tulum and Akumal have many side roads to turn down towards the beach. This one has lots of open street parking across from the residential low-rise condos. We parked across from Beach Bar, which is open to the public. The owner?/bartender? said we could use the bathrooms, which would be open all night. We even found an electrical outlet in the parking lot that he said we could use until morning. FREE camp.

Too add as the location shows the bar - you can park in front of disused land lots next to Villa Las Brisas or up around the corner before you enter the residential strip.

You are in your rights to park here. It’s a PUBLIC road road with private access at the end. Vicious woman lives at the house at the back of Villa las Brisas. She will yell and threaten with the police (the police did drive past and said nothing) and she will threaten to call the land owner or even lie and saying that the owner just drove past (if he had he’d surely have said something) . Just close your ears to her. A guy who lives in the street said it’s a public road and what’s she gonna do call the police laughing. “She’s very cranky you’ll be good here for a night or two.” You are in your rights to park here. The rest of the neighbourhood is friendly. Makes me furious that nature here is reserved for the elite and rich. The world belongs to everyone. You can access the beach through the bar - buy a cheap drink or just pay $100 each to swim all day. They’re all super friendly and you can park their too.

We pulled in on our way to Tulum and stayed one night (Thursday/Friday). We went to the beach bar to make sure it was okay that we parked in the lot and had a really good talk with the bartender and also had some food and drinks (veggie fajita & kombucha) so we were also paying customers. She said we could use the toilet facilities if we needed. In the morning we were, however, confronted by a cleaning lady asking who we were and we have since heard that the owner no longer wants vans to come and park unless they pay a fee. We suggest always going to the beach bar and ask before getting settled and just buy a drink or something so you are a paying customer, seem like the best option to avoid conflict. Otherwise really nice spot.

We arrived at 6pm and the cafe was closed, we did not stay.

Report Check-In

We didn't stay because there were too many cars parked there, nowhere for us. :P Seems quiet and okay but if many guests are staying, no dice.
