Description

The place is at the end of a gravel road right behind 2 official camping grounds. There is a big parking lot with view over the amazing river and a little waterfall.
We have spotted a few locals, but they didn't seem to be bothered.
From the bridge going west, take an immediate left onto the dirt road, then stay left again on any of the 3 road trails (they all connect). You’ll drive parallel to the creek that the bridge overpassed and can continue directly to the river. There are a few spots to camp here. Larger rigs may have some trouble driving through the trees, but there’s parking space at the top and it’s a short walk to the river or creek. Food truck at the edge of the water.

Overall nice place, possible to find a spot in shade, mostly leveled. Very busy in the afternoon as locals come to bath. Loads of gross toilet paper in the bushes - at least bury it. And take your trash with you. Quiet night besides some barking dogs.

A wonderful spot to sleep and spend the day.
There is a large car park just to the left of the bridge, from which you descend to the river by the stairs. During the day, there are many locals, but no one at night.
There are 4 really adorable dogs, take care of them :)
In the river, you can swim and jump from rocks, really great.

Great place with a big parking space with a beautiful river and small waterfall. Perfect to swim and rest. Busy during the day, great and calm at night.

Spent a Monday and a night here. Was a gorgeous place and great spot to spend the day. There really was not much trash, less trash here than many other spots in Chile. Additionally there was a large grassy area that would work for tents. It was a popular spot with locals during the day and evening. We felt very safe and secure (the area is private but within site of homes as well) and had no issues. Definitely recommend as a campsite easily accessible from Ruta 5.

We spend 1.5 night there. When we arrived on Thursday, some locals and later, an other camper arrived. Very quiet night and safe.

The second night (Friday), we felt unsafe with some locals visiting during the night and staying in their car. At 2:30 AM, we were woken up by the police. They explained us that this place was not the safest. After they left, we decided to leave as well.

Maybe it is okay during weekdays but not at weekends?

The creek and river are lovely but I decided not to stay here because there were still loads of people here and a fair bit of rubbish. Still, it's definitely a good spot for camper vans, maybe not so much for those with tents, it's mostly gravel and dust. I splashed out the 10,000 for the Aguas Verdes camping across the bridge and was happy I did so.

Excellent spot! Not far off the highway and super quiet, safe and free.

Recommended. peaceful sight.
Little extra description:
Pass the first camping. Go OVER the bridge to the left on the dirt road. Take the next left and you arrive at the water. Go a little further for a big parking lot.

Lovely free camping. We camped next to the creek that the bridge crosses rather than the main river. Ankle deep waters, fire pit, and small sand/dirt beach for entry. We saw a few cars pass us in the night, but we had the place to ourselves! A family came the next day around noon. Fantastic spot!

Very nice spot to chill and spend the night, we definitely recommend staying there.
Maps.me took us to the wrong place with these coordinates. Be sure to really go at the end of the gravel road (which is partly paved) until you cross a small bridge. After the bridge, there’s the Laja Camping Esmeralda on your right and a dirt road on your left. Take the dirt road and you will arrive on the parking above the river and a small waterfall.
We stayed the night, some locals were there until 9pm but nobody said anything.
Enjoy !

very nice place. Quiet and spacious, overlooking the river and a small lake. On the gravel road, just after campsites. better than camping opposite according to our opinion. The day some tourists but in the evening we were alone.

What a lovely place to sleep! The locals were here Saturday night playing music and having some bbq, but left about 11pm or so. Decent waterfall right by the parking and the river is suitable to swim/fish in. Definitely no need for a 4x4.
To get there heading west go past the two Campsites on the right and over the bridge. Immediately after the bridge you need to turn left, then stay left along the dirt road to get to the parking spot. Poor phone signal on Entel and Claro.

Exactly as described. The locals swam and fished until just after dark, and then we had the place to ourselves. Felt safe and secure. Had a very refreshing early morning swim in the river. Great spot!

What a nice spot! Right on small beach beside the river, no one at night, we loved it. Don’t pay for a campsite on the other side of the highway and come here instead.

Good alternative to payed campgrounds. We arrived in the afternoon in summer time so there were a lot of locals taking a bath in the water. They left at around 8pm and we had the place to our own. There was a parking guide during the day we asked him if it is okay to stay the night...spoiler, it was!
4wd definitely not needed. Almost every car on the parking was 2wd.
We took a bath the next morning and had
the indeed beautiful waterfall and water for us alone.

The road to the place is a bit bumpy so 4wd would be recommended, but the scenery is absolutely worth it.
