Great lookout in the hills of Angeles National Forest with beautiful sweeping valley views. They allow for dispersed camping. No fires. This spot is relatively level and quiet, we saw nobody else here on a Monday. Not recommended for big rigs/ rvs, the access road has a sharp turn in it. Probably also wouldn’t want to try in a 2wd if it has rained recently but in dry weather it should be good. If you have a high clearance 4wd you can continue down the road for about a mile to get a view of the lake and an awesome sunset at another possible camp site.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
I think this spot requires some additional clarification. At the pin, there are dozens of bee boxes and probably hundreds of bees! I can't imagine anyone actually staying there.
But there are two pull-offs on the road on the way to the pin that would be suitable. Both were taken when I pulled in at 7pm on a Monday in April. Also the road is very narrow but you'll be able to turn around at the pin. And I wouldn't want to be on it when wet!
We are not 4x4 so couldn't make it to this spot but stayed at the first open area by the gate. Bit of rubbish but good for a quiet night
Report Check-InThis location now has an Apiary (bee hives) here. If you're ok with that, feel free to stay here. Additionally, you can't see the lake from here. I think you need to have a capable vehicle possibly 4WD to get here only bc some parts of the road are tricky. The initial entrance goes up and down a steep graded rutted out hills. Unfortunately, the gate to the left of this hill that would make it easier to get to, was locked.
The road goes further beyond this spot to another spectacular location where you do have a view of the lake. Again, be careful & prepare to have new pin stripes. I've included a sat pic of the other location & will add it to the app as well.
There is a (locked) gate, but also a parallel rough road around it which requires low gear 4WD. The level spot is buzzing with bees: there are about a dozen white wooden beehives in a circle.
We continued a bit further down and camped in the middle of that road. Invisible and quiet, in the shade of the mountain (after 5:00 pm): just the way we like it (for one night).
Report Check-InThis place is nice enough. it's dark flat and very quiet. I was the only one there.
enough space to fit half a dozen or so RVs if need be with a fire ring in the center. Very dry and can get windy, take caution if you have a fire. beautiful views of the rolling hills.
Heard north and wanna catch a good sunrise\sunset. This is the spot man
Report Check-Ingreat place nobody there and if you go pass the gate (i did it on my bike) down the road the next flat area is awesome !
Report Check-Inone small entrance. sharp turn. dirty road. good for parking. nice vistas. some hills for small walks. nobody here but it seems that locals visit the place. is dessert like. small bushes vegetation.
Report Check-InNice spot as described. One other other camper around on Saturday.
Anyway, the way further down isn't that difficult - when you have decent clearance and a small vehicle you should be able to make it. 4wd not necessary - at least when it's dry.
