Something not right?

Description

Hotel and Restaurant a few kilometers before park entrance. On the main road, we were unable to drive the steep rough road to Campo Bello, this was right on the way to Cerro Verde. $30 for clean double room with private bathroom, although cold showers. A few liters of purified drinking water provided each night. Secure parking in large lot behind gated entry. Dog friendly. They would probably allow camping if you asked although bathrooms may only be available with a room. Restaurant was good, simple, limited Salvadoran fare.

They were in the middle of building what looks like an obstacle course/adventure park on the hill behind the hotel, with a zip line, trampolines (some kind of game), and picnicking areas. Incomplete, but the walk up the hill is nice with beautiful views of Volcan Santa Ana and Lago Coatepeque.

Having been overland through actual Tibet, this isn't really the same of course, but their attempt at faux-Asian design combined with the 2km altitude and warm hospitality is just charming enough to hint at nostalgic feelings.

Stayed one night here before hiking to the volcano, 15$. We can stay until 5pm the next day and go to see the mirador and use the wifi. Bathroom open all night and cold shower. Not sure if we could have bargain but we were tired so we accepted at 15$.
next morning we wait for the group and the guid, it was 3$per person for the guid and 6$ per person for foreigners for the entry of the park.

You can park your vehicle here for 3$ while you hike the volcano. Might even be able to park on the street for free, not sure

If you just want to do the Santa Ana volcano hike the next morning, this is the place to park. Only two flat spots on the right side of the parking lot. Clean bathrooms and quite cold showers. Very friendly staff. No sockets and didn’t see a water spigot. $10 for two per night. Cat was free.

A note for joining a group for the hike. On weekdays, though they may say the public group will pass by for you to join at anytime starting at 7:30, there’s no saying when the group will come. We waited 2.5 hours with no luck. The public group only leaves when there is enough people. But there will be several private groups (coming from hotels and elsewhere) and it’s worth a shot to ask if you can join them instead of waiting and not knowing when the public group will come by. We hiked on a Monday and there was just not that many individual travelers coming arriving that day.
