Description

Large, quiet, safe parking for a night at the entrance to Loreto Mission. The staff asked us if we would like to spend the night, so we were not bothering anybody. The entrance gate was closed at night so we felt safe. Water and toilet available.

Marcelo is a friendly and informative guy. He invited me to camp so I stayed the night in my tent under the veranda. Good company and location plus a restful night.

Report Check-In

After visiting the Mission we could spent the night in the nice and quiet parking area right in front of the entrance. There is Wifi and the gate is closed for night, so that you can feel absolutely safe. Shortly after we left the mission, we got a serious technical problem with our truck. As it was Sunday morning and all the workshops were closed, we decided to drive the short distance back to Loreto and ask for help there. And we were supported in an incredibly nice way that we have rarely experienced. Marcelo from the mission not only organized a mechanic for us, who repaired our truck on site on Monday, but also provided us with WiFi, electricity and even a small lunch. After we left, Marcelo even asked again if everything was OK on the road. We are impressed by the unbelievable helpfulness and would like to thank Marcelo once again for his help :-)

We asked our guide if we could stay in the parking lot overnight. He immediately said yes, showed us the toilets and pointed out the open wifi. The Wifi extends to the parking lot area near the entrance. There was an event outside of the mission (it was Saturday), we could hear the music, but it was not too bad.

Report Check-In

We arrived at the time of gate closure, the leaving staff member proposed to us if we want to stay overnight in the parking lot (we didn’t even have time to ask!) and visit the ruins in the morning, so friendly! He showed us the bathroom (shower and toilet), very clean. ATM in town, two shops, no restaurants. Wi-Fi weak in the parking lot, but Claro 3G. Big, safe and quiet, as it is 100m from the village road.

what a great place with a great mission. You get a tour in Spanish but Ana speaks very slowly and explains a lot. it is absolutely quiet and safe

As described but no marcello! Don’t fret he’s back this week. Friendly ranger still let me sleep besides ruins. Bathroom has a cold shower, and water dispenser has hot water for drinking.

There’s a small market in town.

Cyclists, there’s a night watchman and the gate to the enterance has a bike friendly gap. Cars should plan to arrive before closure to sleep inside but cyclists no worries to beat clock.

Town is also very safe and rangers assured camping can happen in town too.

We arrived here last night around 5:30pm still is opened. Marcelo is always here. We walk together inside ruinas following the jungle. How amazing it is! We are full filled of Guaraní’s culture and Misiones. I don’t doubt if you are non spanish speaker, here is the best starting point of Misiones. Marcelo tell you all about it in English. Feel, Learn, Respect! We(with rooftop tent) stayed one night in parking lot. After closing the entrance(around 5:30-6:00pm), you can use another bathroom behind the building.

It's really worthwhile to visit this place. We did not stay the night but it looks peaceful and safe. We toured for free as their system was not working to produce the tickets. (No Jehovas Witnesses!) It's a bit tricky to get here with the new road construction and Garmin will lose you completely. Google Maps got us here.

Didn't sleep here so didn't ask anything but here the ground is flat, better than other missions to sleep

Ahora, extranjeros 350 pesos, valido para las 4 misiones y durante 15 dias.

Dormimos aqui una noche dado que nos lo ofrecieron en la entrada de la misión. Baño abierto toda la noche. Suelo nivelado. Muy tranquilo.

Great tour. Marcelo is a very knowledgeable guide with Guaraní ancestry. He did try to convert us to become Jehovas Witness at the end but otherwise great tour. Haha

Very interesting place, every former reducion has its own vibe. It is not a huge site with many ruins, only a few because they decided to excavate it slowly. One more place inside is currently being excavated and may be available for the public soon. The excavation site of the toilets is under a roof and also very interesting to see, they had real sanitation back then in the middle of the jungle. A must see. Marcelo is a great guide, if you do not speak Spanish well, his English is perfect. We can really recommend a visit, take the time to feel this place and its history. In the visitor center you find a nice model of the former buildings which is very interesting. Parking for overnight is great, level ground, a great service in our view. Entry fee at the moment 230 Pesos per person (Eur 5,50) for all 4 sites, valid 15 days. The road RN 12 is under construction, but no problem at all. There is a toll booth coming from the south, 70 Pesos (Eur 1,75) for a motorhome with single whèels. Definitely worth the price regarding the mud roads around.

Très bon emplacement pour la nuit, calme. La visite du site avec Marcelo était très instructive en plus des ruines il nous a expliqué les plantes et les animaux qui vivent là. Il a été très accueillant et nous a tout de suite proposé de rester dormir sur le parking.

We joined a guided tour2 (spanish/english) and learned a lot about the history of the mission. To overnight on the nice and quiet parkinglot was an extra bonus. Well worth the visit.

Perfect location for one night, we sleep here and it was really quite. Gate closes at 18:00, you have to park here before the closure of the museum.
Toilet inside the museum, free to use it.

Perfect spot to spent the night. No obligation to visit the ruins :-)

Très bon endroit avec un Marcelo très accueillant et serviable
possibilité de faire le plein d'eau

If you still need to go to visit San Ignacio, don't make the same "mistake" as we did: you cannot camp at the entrance of San Ignacio. It's in the middle of a very busy centre and the town didn't feel safe. So better to overnight here at Loreto, which is very calm and secure.

Report Check-In

As already mentioned, nice place to stay one night. Quiet in the middle of the forest.

Excellent! Limited facilities but the staff, Sylvio and Marcello are very friendly and helpful. We were invited to camp and told we were ok to use the toilets and to help ourselves to water. Nice quiet camp as you are well away from the road.

Report Check-In

A nice quiet spot in the car park to the Loreto Mission, ideal for a one night stopover. The staff, Marcello and Sylvio were great guides in the mission and invited us to stay in the car park area. There is a small village nearby and at weekends there would almost certainly be music but we had a relatively quiet night. Ther is also a guardian in the mission at night and the gates at the bottom of the drive are closed at 7pm.

Report Check-In

Large, quiet, save parking for a night at the entrance to Loreto mission. The staff were asking us if we would like to spend the night, so we were not bothering anybody. The entrance gate was closed at night so we felt save. Water and toilet on spot
