update: not abandoned anymore. Workers life here. No wind protection anymore, because you can’t park close to the buildings.
Power generator quite loud and runs the whole night.

Former railway station, the building as wind protection, quiet and isolated.
We don't have any photos of this place yet.

We stayed here for one night after asking. The guys who live here where very friendly. We could use the toilets - and even the free WiFi they had!
Report Check-InIt seems this is now housing for people working at the mines/solar field. We asked if we could stay for the night in between the buildings, but we were told it is not allowed.
Report Check-InNice because of wind shelter. It was a bit dusty due to passing trucks. Lots of broken glass around the place, so be careful where you drive or walk.
There were some workers there renovating the train station. They told us that railway is being revitalised, so I guess that this spot might not be so quiet in the future.
20km south of Agua Blanca. (Can’t pin it on the map anymore.)
We’ve stayed at a little mining town called Salar de Pocitos. Coming from the south, we’ve stayed at the left end of town next to an abandoned house. Nothing much to do. No facilities.
Nice and little place to eat; Planete Puna. Also able to spend the night there. They have accomodations.
Great place when hungry after travelling Puna.
Parked by the disused railway station of Laguna Seca. We moved twice to get protection from wind in the afternoon. No wind at night. Just the occasional truck passing by. Our barometer recorded 1042 hpa pressure. Never before experienced such high pressure at this altitude
