Description

Pretty campground next to a river with geisers. There are 2 hot pools fed with thermal water (VERY HOT - there's a cold tap you will want to turn on a few hours before you get in)

50 pesos per night per person. No hook ups or wifi. No cell service. Bathrooms but at times of posting no showers. (Nice Showers now)

Says NO MASCOTAS on the gate but there were many dogs there when we visited. (Our small dog was allowed)

Stock up on supplies in San Cristobal de la Barranca before you head down. There are no tiendas once you get down there.

A couple of small crags for rockclimbing near by (15 minute walk from the campground)

Latest Check-Ins

Great spot, as others have said. The operator is nice and speaks some English. I added a pic here of the sign at the entrance which says open Sat-Sun 10-6, camping $150mx and day use $80mx. I arrived Sunday afternoon and he only charged me $100 for one night. The adjacent river is HOT, with some places to soak your feet comfortably but a lot of algae on the rocks. The hottest pool in the campground was just hot enough to be comfortable for a long soak, and also green and algae-ish. Lots of Mexican families camping but there is plenty of space. Trees for shade, and open areas for solar/starlink. The road in is broken pavement, cobblestone, and dirt, rough and narrow in places. Maybe ok for a big rig if the driver has steely nerves.

As described by many this place and Roberto are awesome! NOTICE: Price has increased significantly to 150 per person/night. This he said due to limits put on his occupancy by local authorities . They are limiting him to 30 people on the weekends where he used to make his living. If you are staying Long Term or weekdays you can likely negotiate as he is a really nice guy. Best two nights sleep we have had in our Jeep all year! Park all the way at the back and there are stairs to the river and an opening for solar. We have been to 10 hot springs in Mexico but these are the first that are really hot.

We have been here several times now. Roberto has improved the site even more. There are 3 great showers with curtains now in each sanitary block. Because of the pandemia he closed the balneario in May and used the closed time to install an irrigation system for the trees and there is now more shade - a little paradies.
Entrance now Mx 70 per Person.
Depending on the development of the Covid19 Situation he will reopen on August 2020. We love this place.

This is indeed a beautiful place to spend a few days. Shady campsites with water. The owner, Roberto Castro, is a very nice and helpful fellow and it is impressive what he built already in the short time. There are two pools built out of volcanic rocks. The big is warm, the small is hot. Very clean toilets (with paper). Showers in planning. You can have a look at the geysirs by the river where the hot water comes out with 96 Grad Celsius! No pets allowed. It is Mx 50/Pers. Sometimes weak internet connection Phone/Whats App Roberto: 333 451 0423
Very recommended.
