It is possible to camp at the museum. The director of the museum and his wife and extended family are warm, welcoming people. There is plenty of room for big rigs. Bathroom and one shower available.
There is also a small cabin where backpackers without their own gear can spend the night. $5 per night.

According to René-father the original factory closed because it was fraudulently run gown by cartel-connected brothers, then bought up by the indigenous family running it.

Great place to camp in Otavalo! Very kind and friendly owners. For $5 per vehicle you get everything, hot shower, toilet, water, wifi, and a quiet night. Also perfect for any size of vehicle. A taxi to the town center (market) is $2 per way.

Très grand emplacement sur herbe avec toilette, douche chaude et wifi 5$/vehicule. René notre hôte et sa famille sont extrêmement gentils. La Plaza Ponchos pour le marché artisanal et le centre ville sont accessible à pied en 15min. René nous a fait la visite du musée sur les anciennes traditions des indigènes et sur le tissage du textile. Il possède une petite boutique textile à bon marché (sans obligation d’achat). Très bon spot, nous y restons 2 nuits.

I recommend this Place!! Rene is such a nice guy and showed us his garden and talked alot about the are and his house the Family is very friendly and they very welcom you!! we paid with a small Van 5$ for one Night!

This place is magical. These people are incredibly kind and if you stay a few days to get to know the family you won't regret it. They are so generous and human, an exceptional human encounter. Go under the gate and go to the bottom of the courtyard behind the building, shoot the bell there is always someone

Nice place to stay! Bathrooms and shower for use (in the men bathroom). We stayed two nights and had a tea with rene and his wife the first night- so warm and friendly people! They told us the price is up to us like a donation :) also visit the museum - it's worth it!
