Great alternative to Canyon Overlook. Easier to get to but still requires a 4x4. Canyon lake, saguaros, Fire ring all in one spot. Stay here! isolated, beautiful view! Full cell service

Beautiful views but definitely need a 4x4 with decent clearance. I have a modified overland camping trailer that I made out of a 12 ft trailer and drive a stock Tacoma 4x4 TRD and made it out and in but definitely a bumpy ride. The place I bottomed out was where my hitch and trailer connect, a few times but it was dirt and gravel so it didn’t cause any damage to the hitch but did jack up my trailer jack foot.
Report Check-InShould be called “Lower Lake View” rather than “Lower Canyon View”. The water is a beautiful sight at sunrise, sunset and in between. Road noise is there but minimal. Spot is surrounded by saguaros and numerous other types of cacti. Just an incredible A+ spot.
But what you probably want to know is whether 4x4 is required as the other reviews state. My answer is yes. I used 4x4 Low. There were two uphill runs of medium-size loose rock with uneven dips, plus two ravines my trailer bottomed out on. Yes I pulled in a 19ft lifted trailer, but once you’re committed to this road there’s no turnaround, just a tiny T-intersection where “Lower Canyon View” splits off from “Canyon View”.
Also helpful - the camping spot is not obvious from where you hit dirt, but if a vehicle is already occupying the camping spot then you’ll be able to already see the vehicle at that point and know not to proceed (it’s a small spot for only one vehicle).
AT&T full strength 3G Off-Network (12/2020). So decent (not awesome but not terrible).
Report Check-InWe got to the road but didn’t feel comfortable taking it with a trailer and 4x4. Looked like a nice view but narrow, rugged twisting road.
