Maqui Cave alternate entrance. There's a sandy parking space and on the other side of the road, the Trail begins. You already can see the Caves up on the Hill. There are many trails to go up. Some easy ones and a more difficult one. Only 1/4 mile to walk, just next to the road. Very nice and huge caves. No entrance fee, for free.

Main parking is a large gravel lot about 1500ft south of here where the turnoff and large orange sign for Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is. Follow the trail up the wash to the caves. Bit of a side sloping traverse on sandstone to get up but not a big deal. No real exposure.
Report Check-InDefinitely worth a stop as you drive by. You need to scramble up a little bit of sandy rock and then walk along to the right to the caves.
Report Check-InGreat tip! Saved the Maqui Cave entry fee. Too tough of a hike for me, but my husband made it up and his photos were breathtaking. Cave is about 200 ft deep with lots of exits.
