At the visitor center they ask a staggering 5000 for an hour of shitty WiFi, we needed it to arrange our salvo conductos for leaving to Argentina at Paso Roballos. However, before you pay, check if the "STINKY" network isn't there still. It was visible and without password on my phone, not on my partner's museum piece. Saved us 10k (docs didn't arrive within an hour). Friendly people! Beautiful park. Do the Laguna Altas hike!

There is a Museum, a Visitor Center "Centro de Exploraciones" that offers Coffee, Sandwiches and Salads among other things. There is also a restaurant, part of the explora lodge, where you can have lunch or dinner. ($35 - $70)
You can make a reservation ahead of time to [email protected]
Bar is also available.

Very beautiful grounds with plenty of Guanaco lounging around. Buy your tickets here when entering the park (11.000 foreign & camping 8.000)

What a great visitor center! Very beautiful with wood finishing! Most beautiful in South America. It’s look like you are in 🇺🇸! Don’t miss cafeteria next building with carrots cake delicious and muffins. Free wifi for one hour

Place to pay for camping (8000) and park entry - bizarrely only seems to be 5,500 here having paid 11,000 at Tamango! One pass does all sectors. Museum excellent (included in pass), comprehensive and thought provoking. Basic cafe with help yourself expensive coffee machine. (4000) and very limited WiFi.

Report Check-In

entrance fee is now 11.000 clp for adult foreigners. too much if you ask me. but nobody checks anywhere if you actually have a ticket, it's basically the honor systeem. we didn't use the campsite which is still 8000clp pp but spoke to other overlanders who did and said that some people arrived after 18.00 and left before 8 am when the office is closed and they therefor didn't pay for camping either . if you have been or are going to the mountains in Bolivia and Peru you will see similar areas for free.

Report Check-In

visitor center closed from end of march onwards, no conaf present - park is free, nobody cares what you do, almost no people, but also no information, maps etc

We arrived here from Argentina, which means that we hardly have anything to eat with us (since Chilean border crossing has food restrictions) So we were looking forward to getting a meal in the restaurant here. Now we were told that one has to reserve a table 24 hours in advance. (there's almost no-one here at the moment; we passed 3 cars on the way from the border, and I counted 16 cars here at the center, many of them of the personal. Anyway, a 3 course buffet meal, with 1 glass of wine for UD$60 also feels on the high side - but then we didn't get a chance to taste it...

Très jolie parc Nacional mais...

-Warning 1-

We were passing and we went to paso Robellos. If you do not make the trails, you can still see the museum. It is 2000 Pesos per person. Very nice, it's worth it.

We spent a week in Parque Patagonia as a Christmas detour from cycling along the Carretera Austral. Everything is now run by CONAF - seems that this is their first “season” running the place. You pay a one off park entrance fee of 8,000CLP pp, which gives you access to all the trails and the exhibition. It’s another 8,000 CLP pppn to stay in any of the three campsites.

The exhibition is beautifully presented and incredibly high quality. It goes through three “sections”: the environmental crisis and our impact on the world, the human and natural history of Patagonia, and of course the Parque Patagonia project. So, just some light topics there! But it’s very engaging and thought-provoking - well worth a visit.

Everything in the park is finished to an incredibly high quality and it’s fascinating to visit such a newly-established national park. The rangers are friendly and helpful. It looks like there are more trails in development, but at the moment it’s essentially one day hike per campsite, plus the multiday thru-hike. They don’t give out paper maps, but you can take a photo of the routes from their computer screen. The trails are also on Maps.me and MapOut. We loved our time here.

Really beautiful national park. We did the Lagunas Altas trek and only saw 4 other people on the trail, when we told the ranger he said that was a very busy day. The visitors center opens at 9.00, but all info on the hikes can be found on the website, just make sure you check it before if you want to start early. Entrance costs 8000 pp.

Report Check-In

Park open - now it's handle by chile and it's not private anymore. We came early at 7am no one at the entrance. Did the Laguna Altas trek and came back at 2pm to see the museum but they told us we had to pay at the restaurant for it or if we already had paid to entrance of the park we could go inside.
Everyone we met before told us the park was free during the day, apparently is not anymore,. Didn't ask more and did not paid so not sure about it.

Park is closed at this time of the year. It means that you can hike and take the road to Argentinia, but all facility are closed : no wc, no camping.

Ranger allow us to sleep in our van on the parking lot of the park. Not allow to use the wc or water, but free wifi!

the road to come here is very beautifull through the Patagonia NP. The park is also very good, many wildlife, many hikes possibility, and few people.
worth it! must do!

Report Check-In

It seems closed at this time. Just some guanacos.

Report Check-In

The Parque is closed for 3 months as they hand it over to CONCAF.

This means you cannot drive off the main road (Paso Roballos) to any trails or campsites. You are still able to hike the trails just be wary as it added 12km to the LAGO CHICO hike. Others it doesn’t affect.

We didn’t have to pay to be in the park. The Drive to the border is simply stunning, a must!

Honestly one of the nicest museums I’ve ever seen. Very creative and beautiful exhibitions. Free! Highly recommended.

Incredible exhibition for free! The visitor center is now open and offers lots of information about the walking trails and the flora and fauna there. In the back there is the exhibition, every text and video available in english. Impressive facts about the nature and the impact of humans throughout history. Perfectly presented with newest technology.
I don’t know the opening times, but it was open on Sunday, but it has (re-) opened at 14:30.

Can’t believe people aren’t talking about the amazing exhibitions and interactive experiences at the visitor centre (free). Super awesome for nerds like us!!. Beautiful building as well. Helpful info on trails. Didn’t ask about camping so no comment there.

Vister center was closed when we got there at 6:30pm. Restaurant opens for dinner at 7:30pm & requires a reservation. Looks VERY nice & high end. Worker at desk in Restaurant spoke english & had great info on the park.

Report Check-In

expensive buildings, large administration, no maps, arrogant / stay with the camper only on the car Park without infrastructure / 8000p per person per night

We ate a delicious dinner here. We had the place almost to ourselves. The vegetables that are grown in the gardens are the tastiest and freshest we have had since Canada.

Report Check-In

Walked over from west winds to check it out. The visitor center was closed, but we went to the restaurant for a caprese sandwich with chips ($7,000) and some beers ($3,500 each). For a snack, the sandwich was good to split and worth it just to sit outside and sip some beer while watching the guanacos graze. Go see the gardens afterwards—the volunteer gardeners there will happily show you around and let you sample all the organic produce.

After bushcamping for many days, eating at the restaurant was a wonderful treat. Delicious and beautifully decorated food, great service, prices reasonable. The best cuisine we had in months.

Here’s where you get info about trails and camping for the National Park as the building with the Visitor Center sign is still closed/under construction. 8,000 pp to camp in all designated campgrounds. There’s no vehicle pull out next to sites so you’ll have to park on the small parking lots next to the road. Only the campground closer to the Chilean border has Quinchos/Palapas but they are more expensive (didn’t get price for it). Wild camping in the park is prohibited and a lot of the pullouts have now chains blocking access to them. Nice restaurant but pricey for us.

Ate at the very fancy restaurant here for my birthday, amazing food, great service and even received complimentary entree and dessert. Really friendly and so helpful and it's a beautiful spot too.

We came for information on the path going from here to Cochrane. The info on the park is closed on sunday, we went inside the cafe.

They are obviously not keen to have motorhome on their parking. They forbid us to camp on the altoas lagos path, even thouh there is a camping icone on their map, and forbid us to go to cochrane that way.
In fact there is a path in tamango park, called sendero Los Condores which start on the Altos lagos.
Our experience there was really unpleasant, and clearly if you are not here to spend money, you can pass your way without stopping.

We ended going to cochrane through the sendero starting 2 kms north of the headquarter, and is shown on mapme. Despise their comments, this route, which is accessible all the way by 4 wheels drive if you open a gate, will get to you to Tamango reserve which has beautiful atunning view on Cochrane lake.
