Something not right?

Description

Parking on a grassy field just above the river by a local family. Just right after the bridge on the left. Short walk (5 min) to semuc champey. No facilities. They have about 4 dogs who barked every time we came back with our dog but no problem at all. It was a bit quieter than by the entry. Paied 40 gtz for two per night. The road to get here is a bit rough but it's worth it. We drove down with a truck camper with 4x4 drive. It was dry and the road was in a good condition.

Restaurant Mi Rancho. We came there to eat for Q50 each. Then we walked to the bridge and found out we couldn’t reach Semuc Champey entrance because of the steep muddy and rocky road. Came back and asked restaurant’s owner if we could spend the night here and stay parked for few hours on the morning whilst visiting the park. They agreed. They didn’t ask for money. On the morning we gave Q20 to the girls to look after our dog while we were inside the park. Very good experience.

Road to get here can be tricky without 4WD. We made it here no problem with our 2WD Chevy van but to go back to Lanquin with the pouring rain could be challenging at some point.

Very close to this point, just up the road from the bridge the family sets up an all you can eat BBQ from 12-2.
@ 50 q each it is not super cheap but great value....all you can eat beef, chicken, rice, beans, 3 salads, coleslaw, beats, spaghetti, guacamole, tortillas and more.
