Report Check-In

Big grass field parking lot, upon arrival I told the day guard that I would like to camp he asked for 50 pesos and kindly presented his ID which I took a pic of after reading the reviews . After sunset around 8:30. I closed my van door, out of nowhere from 200 meters away there was a very bright flashlight shined on my face the whole distance till the night guard reached my camp. He started saying that I couldn’t camp and that it was too much responsibility for me to stay the night. I told him that I already paid the parking attendant and he said it was ok to camp and that I have a photo. Finally he left. The camping/parking area is infested with packs of stray dogs, within 20 minutes of my arrival I stepped in dog poop, the night was difficult to sleep through due to loud symphonies of grouling, barking and howling. I would avoid this place unless one is very desperate.

Report Check-In

We arrived after 5 PM. The day guard already left. Just before all the shops, go to the right. Continue to the end. There is the paved parking lot. For larger vehicles, stay on the grass field. It is very quiet an night. We only heard many birds.
Immediately after we arrived, a man came and asked 100 MXN. We said no, only 50. He said yes and asked again 100. We said no again, 50. We asked for his name, he said no name. He looked a little drunk. We refused again and he left.
Around 7.30 PM, the real night guard came. He asked 50 MXN. he could not show his identity, so we took his picture.
the day after, we visited the archeological site.
There was a show of Voleadores at 2.30 PM. But we were the only ones. They asked us 600 MXN to start the show. We refused and went away. Afterwards, they started the show around 3.30 PM, they were about 10 people for the show. So, we went there. Before the show started, they came to collect a tip. We gave 50 MXN, they asked 50 per person. We refused. The man asked us to leave. We refused. We stayed, it is on public property. Just before they started the show, he came back to collect the 50 MXN.
We haven’t seen a day guard. The second night, nobody came to ask for money.

Report Check-In

We stayed 2 nights and payed only once 50 Peso. We made a picture of the dayguard's ID. The nightguard asked and we told him, that we payed the dayguard and showed him the picture of the ID - no problems.
Nightguard and dayguard very friendly. Also police ist checking the parking lot.

Report Check-In

50p for parking, 70p for the ruins which are wonderful. Lots of restaurants at the entrance. Very quiet during the week.

Report Check-In

We had the same issue as described below: We paid MEX$ 50 to the day guard and later on the night guard told us to move as it would not be allowed to stay overnight. Warned by the other posts here we had taken a photo of the ID of the day guard and so we could shorten the discussions. Had a quiet night.

Report Check-In

We showed up at 4:15pm and asked if it is possible to park overnight. The guy said si si, claro. I asked how much is it and he hesitated a moment and said 100 pesos for the night and the whole day. I said that is too expensive and we know from other travelers they paid only 50 for the night and 20 for the day. He said okay. So we paid 70 in total. I asked for a receipt but he could not give us one. So I said please tell the night guy that we have already paid everything. He said yes I do! He showed us his ID and said we should remember his name so we can tell everybody who we paid. We had a quiet night and no one bothered us.

Report Check-In

Overnightparking in the daylot is more a scam of the parkguys, daytime parking is 20 pesos, nighttime 50 pesos. But it is generally not permitted to park overnight in the area of the park/ruins. When the nightguard comes he will confront you with this problem.

Tried to stop here at 1pm (admittedly, on New Year's Eve. Not sure if this had an impact) Was told to come back later, apparently the lot was full, then directed around the roundabout at the entrance to the park. Not sure exactly what later means but I will try this evening. There is another parking place a little closer to town, and the highway with gravel lot if you encounter the same issue.

Report Check-In

50 pesos. Tonnes of mosquitos, but otherwise a fine place to park for the night. Couldn't let our pets out of the trailer due to the stray dogs around. Looking forward to seeing the ruins/museum in the morning.

Report Check-In

Arrived at 4pm to camp, the guatd took our 50 pecos to camp and we parked in the shade by the road. At about 6pm the night guard came over and basically told us it was against the rules/law to camp here and we had to leave. We discussed that we already paid the day guard and we were not leaving. He said the problem was that the day and night guards never see each other and this is a problem. He said we had to leave, we said no go call the cops on us. We sympathised with his frustration also and eventually he left us to. We had a very enjoyable cool night, no to much noise from the dogs, had cows visit us in the morning, breakfast at the resturants before the park opened at 9am on sunday. Buisy as can be, Sunday is free day for Mexicans. 65pesos entance each for us. Well worth it, this is an amazing a beautiful place, a must see!

Report Check-In

Paid 20 pesos for parking and stayed the night in the grassy field. As usual, resident dogs bark intermittently all night.
