Wow!! The most awesome free camp spot in the Rockies! Totally beautiful riverside spot surrounded by spectacular mountain peaks! This is a USER MAINTAINED campground, so please look after it; take away all of your rubbish and leave it clean. If it is abused, it will be closed. There are 4 or 5 designated paces amongst the trees, with picnic tables & fire rings. Pit toilet. Follow the short track around the trees to the big open riverside space for the best views. Stunning.

Beautiful spot. We stayed here a Thurs/Fri/Sat and had it to ourselves until Saturday evening one other camper showed up. It’s a 40 mile long bumpy, potholed dirt road out to this spot, we only passed one truck the whole drive. Definitely worth the drive if you have the time. Pétain falls hike in the Elk Lakes Provincial Park just up the road is a must-do when in the area. The Continental Divide Trail runs along this road for a long time so don’t be surprised if you see some backpackers trying to hitch a ride to skip that section. We picked up 3 hikers on the way out there.
Report Check-InSpent 7 days there.
60km of gravel road, not that bad but be careful of the bikers, there is a lot on the road, and the road is dusty.
the spot itself is perfect, 3 definite spots but many more in the area. Access to the river, wonderful view over the mountains. bears around (one tried to open the van), met people there, and it could be busy during the weekend.
One of the most espectacular camp spots in Canda. Beautiful views and solitude. All the Alberta crowds stay at the other side of The Valley.
A creek runs by, some sites are in the shade and a big meadow for sun light, you choose where to camp ;)
Thank you Tucks’ Truck for sharing this great spot.
This place is amazing. Can’t wait to come back. Alberta by most mountain
