Description

This is a trailhead rather than a campsite, but a park sign gives warnings about porcupines when overnighting here, so it seems to be permitted. There is a large stash of chickenwire provided so you can put it around your car to protect the tyres and cables from the porcupines. There is a pit toilet, otherwise no facilities. Several people overnight here in their cars ready to set-off early on hikes to the glacier. Very peaceful spot with nice walk around the lake. Rough road to get here. 4x4 & high clearance not essential - some ordinary cars do make it up here, but it is a challenge!

amazing spot, but not actually a campsite, we met the park rangers here that told us not to camp here overnight, came back to hike in the morning and they checked to ask if we stayed overnight. well worth the drive up, and you could chance it but not your not technically allowed to overnight here

Report Check-In

Amazing spot to stay right on the shore of Gibson Lake.
Worth the drive on the logging road!
Just before the trailhead carpark there is a track down to the left and enough space for a few vans right beside the lake.
Peace and tranquility with amazing views.
The hike to Kokanee Lake is worth it whilst you're here!
