Description

Very steep and narrow road leading up the mountains from Minca. About 10minute drive out of town, not recommended for large RVs or motorbikes without a very skilled rider. Mundo Nuevo is a Hostal finca with dorm rooms for 20,000colpesos/night. Nice beds, showers, plenty of room to park bikes if you can make if. Fantastic views all the way to the pacific and Santa Marta. 12,000colpesos for each meal, (vegetarian food only) the food comes from the hostals gardens. Fast wifi, 3000colpeso beers. Very environmentally conscious group. Highly recommended if you can make it.

Didn't stay here, but got a beer for the view. Met a lady with very strong french accent, she didn't make us feel warm welcoming. A small glass of beer for COP$5000

Mundo Nuevo Hostel is a magic and uniq place. Located in the upper of the ecologist village of Minca in the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta. 23 beds breakfast included, private rooms( 80.000-180.000 cop) and dorms ( 40.000 cop). www.mundonuevo.com.co. The Finca has a terrific view over the valleys and the Caribbean sea below. Warm welcome from Philippe and his very friendly team. Surrounded by luxurious gardens and fruits trees. The food of the kitchen is veggie and most of it comes from the Finca's gardens. Hamacs everywhere to relax and enjoy. The decoration of the hostel is really nice and all the wooden furniture is made with fallen trees of the Mundo Nuevo. Numerous activities: Hikes, Permaculture tour, Bird watching, Cacao and Coffee tour, Indigenous huts,,,, One day is better than nothing, but I recommend at least 2. Once you have experienced the sunset, you wish you could stay there longer,,,
Going up there is not that easy, either by foot ( 1 hour) either by moto taxi ( 20.000 cop from Minca) It is recommended to leave your heavy luggage down in the valley
or 4 wheel drive ( 80.000 from Minca- 150.000 from Santa Marta or the airport).
I have spend a terrific 4 days in Mundo Nuevo.

Beautiful location but unfortunately no camping allowed. We stayed in a room for 35k per person and really enjoyed being high up in the mountains with some incredible views. The road is terrible - it took us an hour to go 2 miles - but it was also the kind of adventure we were looking for :) 4x4 and high clearance a MUST. They serve vegetarian food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) for 15k per meal
