Latest Check-Ins

Busy, several other RVs here early. Convenient to water, fuel, restaurants.

Report Check-In

Was in the Alamogordo area for a couple of days and stayed at the Walmart parking lot for about three nights. There were several other vans/campers Peacefull all three nights.

Report Check-In

Nice Walmart. Got stuck in Alamogordo due to extremely Highwinds. Decided to stay here for the night. No issues or concerns.

Report Check-In

Spent two nights here while visiting White Sands. The lot is definitely large, and has incredible mountains views. There is however a lot of construction and holiday prep going on in the parking lot, so a fair amount of noise starts around 4am. It was otherwise peaceful. Parked on the far side of the lot in front of the Outdoor/Auto Care area.

Report Check-In

Asked the manager if it was ok to park overnight. “Yes, ma’am of course. We just ask that you limit your stay to 48 hrs.” She asked that I park on either side, or as far from front entrance as possible. I parked under a light by the garden section. Noisy until it closed then very quiet until it opened. Yes the train woke me but I went right back to sleep. White Sands National Park is only a 20 min drive from here.

Report Check-In

We slept so well!! Quiet Walmart, lot of space, good wifi. Great spot before White Sand NP.

Report Check-In

Stayed for the night from whitesand. Slept good coz so quite and at 4am the train comes. No one bother us. Some RV and and vans.

Report Check-In

This Walmart is the most beautiful dramatic landscape I’ve seen.
We rolled in noonish. Started our morning in Roswell and travelled west through the Lincoln
National Forest. What a beautiful drive… Highly recommended👍The roads were well-maintained and despite the altitude we attained there weren’t many steep grades.

Report Check-In

Stayed a couple nights. Was a great place other than the train noise.

Report Check-In

Very easy. Very safe. we are a family of 5 and had no real issue. Did hear the train once, around 4:50am. But then relatively quiet till 7am. Walmart is open 24/7, and we were glad to be able to buy some bread and things for the road. There were only two other RV's near us. not far away at the Kent Kwik you can get do free dump and FREE water. great stop for a night, especially if you are just in town to visit the white sands.

Report Check-In

Standard Walmart with a great view of the mountain range. Lots of RVs and Vans that stayed overnight also. Pretty quiet throughout the night

Report Check-In

Large Walmart in shopping center. Very noisy all night long with people driving loud muscle cars and trucks around the parking lot, train going by, police sirens.
There where a couple vans and one RV in the lot as well. Overall, it’s not the best but maybe better than nothing?

Report Check-In

Quiet since it was closed last night for holiday. GPS as listed is inaccurate.

Report Check-In

Called ahead & was instructed to park on the side of the lot closest to Burger King, which is opposite where other reviews say to park. Not sure if they changed their preferences, or if it really matters.
The train woke me up a few times, but no other noise or disturbances beyond that. A few other vans and RVs were in the lot as well.

Report Check-In

As described, several other RVs in the lot.

Report Check-In

Regular Wal-Mart parking lot. A little noisy if you’re a light sleeper but open 24 hours which is good. Around 5-6 other campers all parked in the back of the lot. Would stop here again. It’s super close to the Dump station at the Chamber of Commerce which was super convenient.

Report Check-In

As described, you are on the loading dock side of store; away from train tracks

Report Check-In

Standard Walmart. Opted for this place over the Chevron down the road, which is listed on here as a truck stop but is really just a dirt lot.

The Walmart parking lot has tons of entrances and not very many people parked in it, so cars were cutting all over the place. Felt a little dangerous and was worried about my rig getting sideswiped in the middle of the night. Plus wanted to be as far away from road noise as possible, so I opted for the far side of the building (opposite side from where the garden/auto area is, next to the curbside pickup spots). Quiet over here. There is a distant hum from the store’s AC units, which are nearby. Not terrible, kind of a built in white noise machine.

Report Check-In

Stayed with 2 other vans. Rather quiet, open 24h.

Report Check-In

parking is available at the back where there's a sign saying row 14. The train as noted by others is not directly behind or around Walmart. The tracks run parallel to Rte 54.

Report Check-In

Walmart. Big lot. Small town. Few other rigs. Quiet. Heard one train about midnight.

Report Check-In

Hello
Thank for this free place for the night.
OK it wasn't easy because it was the great show all night long...3 trains with horns, 4 trucks of firefighter on the parking with sirens, the car with loud music near us and the carbidge truck for the final..
This is the true road spirit!

Report Check-In

nice, safe and quiet, didn't hear any trains

Report Check-In

Calm Walmart, about 30 minutes from the white sand dunes monument. Open 24 hours. No problems

Report Check-In

Good for one night. Very noisy, there was trains all the night.

Report Check-In

For one night only. Well lit and noisy. The train whisle right beside. Need ear plugs.
Pour une nuit seulement. Bien éclairé et bruyant en masse. Le train nous siffle ça tout près. Besoin de bouche oreilles comme la plupart des Wal-Mart...

Report Check-In
