Something not right?

Description

A flat sandpit/ digger pit just next to ruta 40. Most likely the best wind coverage you can get between Ushuaia and Perito Moreno as you are in a pit. Secondly the sky at a cloud-free night is worth a stay for itself. So enjoy the day in El Chalten and just leave there around 7pm. Then enjoy the stars after dinner and go on the next day. The entrance is on the southwest side of the GPS location

Wirklich kein Problem den Ort zu finden. Für eine kleine Pause von der Schotterpiste prima.

lot of Space and you Can be covered from the wind. no noise from the road. hard to find. from the north, continue a few hundreds meter to see a road/ path at the left side. take it to come to this spot

Report Check-In

Easy access by any vehicle. Completely hidden from the road and good wind protection! A big flat spot for multiple vehicles.

Report Check-In

I wasn't able to find this place.

Report Check-In

Good place to stay overnight. Some windprotection. Should be ok with a roof top tent.

Report Check-In

Nice spot on the way south or north. Wind protected as good as it can be at the end of the pit.

This windshield had me thinking it was a good idea to start my drone. As soon as I was a few meters out of the pit, the drone was lost to the winds: 7 mins fight but it was carried away faster than I ever thought possible.

We did a 2,5 km hike down to the last known point... didn’t find it. If you would like to give it a try (and collect the 64 GB Micro-SD as reward), these are the coordinates: -49.193925 ,-71.330931 (Copy&Paste to maps.me)

If you find it: please send us the last pictures taken ([email protected]) and throw the drone in some trash. We are feeling bad for not only losing it but littering...

Stayed here for one night. Perfect place for a night’s stop from El Chaltén to Los Antiguos. Very quiet, great shelter and fantastic stars.

Report Check-In

It is nice spot to camp. Quiet and wind protected. Good for overnight.

Report Check-In

Great spot, well hidden from the road and with hardly any wind.

Report Check-In

As described and now complete with some skeletons, probably guanaco?, which helps with the creepy factor. But still, a good place to stop when it’s getting dark and you need good wind protection.

Report Check-In

hard to find in the dark, quiet, not windy for us. good place to sleep and definitely hidden from the road.

Report Check-In

Yes very quit place, hiden from the road, nice sunset.......

Report Check-In

Ok to stop for a while protected from the wind. A bit "gloomy" if you want to spent the night...

In the way Gobernador-El Chalten, you ll see a small road on your left. The sand pit is pretty big, but the wind is still present. Good spot for the lunch.
