Update 3/2020: User reports"They would not let us park there for the night in our truck but didn't give any reason. They were quite insistent that we had to leave. Maybe it is different with smaller campers."
A texaco station with a parking area out back that they let you camp in. Very close to Copan. They have restrooms, non potable water, and even purified water (5 gallon jugs) for only 20L. We heard from friends you can even plugin here for some electricity (check near the coke machines). For a gas station, its really nice! Charged us 100L for a night.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Asked the manager of the gas station after refueling and he let us camp there. He asked if we need energy hooked up. Did not need any so no idea if he offered for money, for free or wanted to say not possible.
It is a very nice gas station camp situation. Behind and next to it is grass and road is quiet at night.
Running water at security guard. Did not ask for toilet. The neighbour Copán Ruins have toilet and restaurant...
Free and if you dont need a hot shower better than spending 75lps pp pn at Hotel el Bosque.
Report Check-InThey told us that is not possible anymore to stay there overnight. Across the street it has a place which is ok for 1 night.
