Description

GPS Is an estimate from a dropped pin Google, see road instructions below*. Free - no one comes around to collect. No facilities at all. Nice beach with shady spots in shrubs/trees. Rocky near water, sandy in trees. Nice break from windy beaches. ENTRANCE is unmarked dirt road just before Tripui RV Park, on the road into Puerto Escondido Marina area. Along the dirt road you'll see a sign for 'Playa El Quemado'. It was partly recently grated and some soft sandy parts closer to the beach. Road shoots off to diff areas of the beach. We stayed between a couple permanents at the north end but the beach goes a long way South, should be lots of spots. Depending where you camp could get really soft sand, but people obviously do get big trailers in there. Lots of rvs and trailers set up long term but doesnt feel like it because you have privacy in the shrubs. Felt safe. Beautiful sunrise over the island that lights up the mountains to the west. Saw dolphins really close in the bay in the morning and orcas further out.

WATCH OUT FOR sand fleas, and the thorny bushes - especially thorny little branches hidden in the sand.

HIKING: A friendly german resident told us about some hiking trails nearby. One called 'Hart Trail' is at the north end of the beach beside the last trailer. There's a sign in the rocks at the head. Its about 1hr or so round trip. Nice view of the bays, P. Escondido, and the mountains. Recommend doing it at sunrise! Gets hot. The other one is longer, more difficult, through a canyon on the other side of hwy 1. Entrance to this hike is across the hwy from the entrance to P. Escondido down a road with a water plant or tower, there's a parking area at the trail head. Some scrambling on all fours required and one rope. Not sure how long this one is, didn't do it just heard about it. We had a great time here!

Report Check-In

Camping was reportedly closed, but a Fonatur (government tourism) representative greeted us as we entered and told us the camping is free. Sites were virtually all empty. Road was in good condition, most 2WD should make it with minimal issues.

Report Check-In

As described. The turn off the paved road to the Puerto Escondido marina is a large obvious ‘Y’ and a hundred yards in there is a Fonatur trailer toll booth not occupied on a Monday in May 2022.
Out of season we have this place to ourselves. Most sites are surprisingly trash free.

Campement au bord de la plage de galets ou de sable gris. Beaucoup de residents americains ici installes pour des mois. Endroit moyen facile d acces

Report Check-In

no problems. soft sand almost every where out of the way.

Report Check-In

Nice place qitg à lot of spot, we were at the nr14 but you won't see the nr from the road as it's on the beach. It's a gravel street with stones for 2km, drive carefully, and some spots have soft sand. We didn't see any snake
We stayed alone here, felt safe, no-one asked for money.

Report Check-In

Beautiful ocean side sites separated by vegetation for privacy. No amenities. Basic coverage on Verizon. No one collecting fees right now, we only saw one other group down the beach.

Report Check-In

Remote beach area outside of Puerto Escondido. Nice sites along the beach separated by bushes. No services but sites are clean. Here on a Thurss, no fees were collected. No service on Verizon. Road is easy access for any vehicle. Turn right on unmarked dirt road about 1/3 mile after you turn off of Mex 1 for Puerto Escondido. Turn is before the hotel complex. Several criss crossing roads to a variety of sites.

Report Check-In

Hart Trails (north end of beach) really well marked and lots of options for different distances. Really nice camping and beautiful views of rock formations in the sea. Abhorrent trash on the drive in and at some of the sites.

Report Check-In

As mentioned previously, many 6 month Snowbirds in residence. Approximately 30 beach front sites, recently numbered on white rocks. I stayed in Site 20. Great views of surrounding mountains and Islands. Not my usual Jam, but awesome for Sea Kayaking with plenty of paddling options. $100 MX Peso/night when collected. I paid on a Sunday afternoon for 4 nights with a receipt provided.

Report Check-In

Great place with a lot of BC snowbirds. Found a spot beachside. A lot of them were taken and you might have to settle for a site without your own beach. Plenty of parking everywhere. The views of the mountains are spectacular.

Report Check-In

Found a private spot on the beach. No facilities but garbage. Campground was clean.

Report Check-In

On the beach and out of the wind. We followed the dirt/sand path as far south as possible.Great back and away hide away. We have a rocky beach right in front of our spot and a sandy beach just to the right. We are protected from the wind by large vegetation and a couple of trees strong enough to hold a hammock.
