Description

Campground in National Forest along a narrow, winding road parallel to a river in a canyon. That road is also the fire lane: campers must fit in assigned space. Some sites are reserved for tents and are first come, first serve (FCFS) but camping in vehicles is OK - tables and BBQ at a small distance. Pit toilets and drinking water available, no other facilities.

Great camp site. Arrived just after dark at 1930 and was greeted by the site host who was a really nice guy. After paying $25 FCFS fee he lead us up to our site which was great for a vehicle up to about 30ft. Check off-season dates as this period has a reduced number (7) of sites. As per other check-ins there’s pit toilets and also big bins to get rid of garbage.

We did have luck and camped in the last available FCFS spot (11) at 16:00 (4 pm): Land Cruiser with roof tent on the road and access to table, fire pit and BBQ a little higher. Paid USD 25.

This campground is really nice. Most spots are fairly far apart. The BLM reservation site says that some spots are “first come first serve” so we took a risk and showed up on a Saturday night before thanksgiving, with a 22’ trailer. The FCFS spots were for tents only. All RV spots were “reserved” but largely still empty around 5 pm. We talked to the camp hosts who were AWESOME and super friendly and helpful. They were trying to help figure out their cancellations so they could squeeze us in. I. The end, they let us stay in a big parking lot at the end. So we didn’t have a picnic table and were next to the dumpster, but we were super happy. $25. Great trails to hike around. Cool spot

Report Check-In

Beware. Not big rig friendly as someone stated. VERY tight road and the sites are tiny. We were in a 27’ class C and it was TIGHT. Skip it if you’re long than 23’ or have a large trailer.

Beautiful and quiet. $10 for day or $25 per night. A lot of first come first serve spots so you don’t have to book before hand. Showed up about 5pm and there were plenty of spots left. Cell service. Pit toilets. Access to water and dumpsters.

Great National Park. Friendly hosts. Very quiet, one mile from the highway with a paved road it. Big rigs will fit, $25.00 and excepts Senior Pass for 50% off.

25 overnight. Can squeeze two cars

Some sites are reserved for tents only, drinking water available, restrooms were not clean. $18

Very nice campground, often away from the crowded beaches, in a secluded canyon. One of my central coast go-to camp sites.
