Costa Rica
Overnight parking near the Paradero Nahomi. Clear water for snorkel/fishing on the bay, toilet, cold shower, water supply, firepits, security all night and friendly personnel... the park itself closes at 18h, but the parking and security is 24/7. Walking distance to Quepos. FREE.
--absolutely amazing safe campsite--
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Got here at 9 pm, the park was closed. Make sure you enter the park before 7 pm.
The next morning got back to the park. The water faucet and showers are near inside the gate entrance on the left. Initially, I had a hard time finding it.
Snorkeling was no good as water visibility was poor.
You cannot drive tge car inside. You have to park it by gate. You can campout there too.
Report Check-InWe parked on the side of the road across from the police station for the night then moved to the view spot just outside the park. We had a swim in the warm water at night and a nice workout in the park in the morning. The shower at the park was a godsend in the heat as long as you don’t mind washing your naughty bits in front of other people!
We didn’t mind at all
We spent one night here so we could get to Manuel Antonio National Park as early as possible the next morning. Not a great place, but okay for one night. The area with the two campers in the pictures is now cordoned off. But there is enough space to the right and left of the road to stand well. It's busy until around 8 p.m., then it steadily decreases and becomes very quiet after midnight. We felt very safe here.

Report Check-InWe spend the night here it was quiet busy until midnight with locals coming and going we felt safe in the morning 5am lots of people exercising and kayak tours came at 9am free bathroom from 10 am until 9pm. Showers are open 24hrs.
Report Check-Inwe parked here for one night. there are some mosquitoes around & the bathrooms don’t open until late in the morning. on a weekend you have people coming & going at night & at 6am you wake up to people playing music. i’m sure it’s quiet on a weekday
Report Check-InI'm here right now. Just to specify, even if the gate is locked, there is a side entrance for people always open, so you can still enjoy the park and showers also at night, you just have to park outside of the gate
Report Check-Inthe palace is not close at all, shower working , nice beach, they have only put a chain on the enclosure where van used to park, we have parked there for 2 night very quite, no issues, police on the same street, light post around, very chill not so much breeze tho we went on the beach near Manuel Antonio but some sketchy guys where coming continuosly to our van, so we did not feel anymore to stay there!
we stayed 3 nights, the place is beautiful, very quiet and safe, we were even able to sell our handicrafts
Report Check-InStayed here two nights after we had some truck trouble at the edge of town on a Saturday afternoon and had to wait until Monday for parts. Security guard nearby said totally fine and safe. Great place to be stuck. Cold shower and could have asked to use toilet. The park is used a lot built locals but was peaceful enough to sleep. Hiked a trail up the road and checked out the nice marina.
Report Check-InCamped for two days. Toilets and cold showers available. Beautiful place right of the entrance for camping. Park closes later at friday/saturday and people are likely to hang around in the weekends.
Report Check-Inthe only thing that is different: a chain blocks the entrance you see on the photo.
but enough space with shadow direct in front of the coast guard foe all size of motorhomes! showers beautiful.
today the sea was covered with red toxic algae. NO SWIMMING POSIBL.
Report Check-InGood place to camp, it's safe because there are several institutions with night security. Next to the beach. It's illuminated at night. There are cold showers, but no restrooms, neit. You park right outside the park.
Report Check-InAmazing place because super close to a beautiful little creek, guards are really nice too and happy to welcome people. Give access to toilets (close at 9 pm) and shower (behind their building, open all the time). Quiet at night, a lot of people during the day. Very close thanks to the coast guard's and police offices nearby.
Not really suitable for tents though, ok for camper.
Dormí muy cómodamente en el lugar, noche calurosa pero pase toda la noche con ventanas abiertas y no tuve problemas, los guardacostas muy pura vida, al amanecer llegan personas a trotar en el sitio.
Report Check-Inguardacostas are very friendly, welcome to use their bathroom and outdoor showers. lot of locals come and hang out here so it was a bit odd to sleep at night (RTT). good for campers with some insulation but not tent friendly as such. it's free and there is running water.
Report Check-InCame here on the weekend and was too crowded for our big rig (7.20m) couldn’t fill the tanks either because they don’t allow to plug a hose, we could fill only bottles... in the end we could fill our tanks at the Guardacostas and slept in the gravel field in front of the marina (they told us the malecon might not be “safe” since the discos are on that side people could come to bother us at night)
Report Check-InSafe, quite place to camp overnight. The walled area just outside Paradero Nahomi pictured here had a couple cars awkwardly parked so we could not fit very easily but we pulled up across the street from the Guardacostas. As stated, they are friendly and we conveniently met an English speaking sergeant to confirm.
Even though it is a dead end, life starts early here and we noticed vehicles and people around 4:30, 5 am. Generally quiet though.
Report Check-Invery nice and clean park. there is still the sloth with a baby!! amazing.
Report Check-InVery nice, we could see two sloths, have a shower and fill our water, the guards are very kind and helpful, we were there on week days so nights were calm and quiet. Nice views, a thing to know, the guardacostas don,t let use their parking anymore but you can park in front of their parking, so it,s fine. We needed to wash some clothes and guards let us use their sink and offered a coffee to us and lemonade for our children! We used showers at night and water was perfect not too cold not warm!!! Mosquitos but not that many!
Report Check-Inin principle very cool spot and as described but had many mosquitos when we were there. stayed only one night. 2 sloths in the park, ask the guard about it.
Report Check-InWe came here several times to refill water and take a nice shower (we were parking in Manuel Antonio beach for free). The place is good for a nice sunset, and to stay one night(safe). We only stayed one and we saw a nocturnal perezoso in the tree above us ❣️
Report Check-InAs advertised. Great location close to the marina and park. Outdoor showers at the park and potable water. Bathrooms at the guard station. Guards were super friendly and helpful. There are air conditioned bathrooms at the Marina around the corner as well, which were very nice after a few days camping along the coast. As mentioned, this place is a popular hangout for locals to drink and smoke so it was a bit noisy in the evening until around midnight but we had no issues with anyone bothering us.
Report Check-InOn bike and camped in a tent here behind a fence to the parking lot and next to the water. Water, toilet, and out door shower. Security guard is on duty all the time and they allowed us to leave our bikes here for the day while we went to Manuel Antonio National Park. A little loud the second night with people hanging out and smoking weed but it felt safe.
Report Check-Instill correct, showers, toilets, nice views, nice swimming and all for free!:)
Report Check-Innoisy a big part of the night until 11pm (cars, motorcycles, people...). this is a lovely place however.
Report Check-InCAREFUL. During the night our light bar from the front of the van was stolen. We saw someone pissing in front of the van before it got dark which we thought was pretty rude. Guess he was checking it out. Otherwise a good spot but man are we livid.
Report Check-InPerfect spot to spend one night. About 7km from manuel Antonio park. The parking spot is just outside a gated beach facility which is rocky, but has nice views, showers, picnic tables, gym facilities and potable water. Can fit all size rigs with a 24hour security guard who had no problem with us staying for free.
Report Check-InStayed 2 nights. Guards are friendly. Townies are friendly. At night people come to smoke weed in their car, but that's all. Safe.
Report Check-InIt's an ok-spot for one night. The security guys are nice and let us use the restrooms for free. There are young peoples coming and going all the evening long with cars and motorbikes. Some of them use the place for drinking and smoking.
Report Check-InLugar ideal para acampar si uno va a visitar el parque Manuel Antonio. La gente que trabaja en el lugar muy buena onda, hay baño, ducha y la vista es super linda
Report Check-InThe guards are incredibly friendly. We stayed here two nights and the guards were super helpful and let us use the park after hours as long as we camped outside it. There is a coal burning BBQ on the park that we feasted at the second day. There is a beautiful calm bay for snorkelling and it apparently has great fishing as well. There are also tons of slothes in the trees of the park. Ask the guard to find you one.
Report Check-Inawesome spot by the beach to spend a night or two. guards around the clock, next to coastal guard station. excellent kolbi and claro reception. nearby Quepos beach ok for surfing.
Report Check-InCamped here for three nights while we went to Manuel Antonio. The guards are really friendly and have no problem with overlanders camping. Toilets available all day and night. The shower didn't work but the guard kindly offered us a hose shower! On the last night a few groups of cars showed up playing music and talking loudly, but they were gone by 9:30pm.
Report Check-InParking is in front of the park, showers are in the park, how is closed from 7pm to 6 am.toilets are open 24h by the house wer the security is.
Report Check-InSafe and level location near the coastgaurd facility. Free. Some locals came during the night and drank so was not super peaceful but
good, cheap option.
