pulled over and told us they don't do van camping anymore. I asked if we could stay on a parking space unoccupied and pay for it, but the person insisted it was only possible if we were to rent a room for 1000+ pesos.

The price is now 500 pesos. no water to fill pir tank and no electricity. For 250 pesos more, we could have had a room at the hotel.

Report Check-In

A large parking lot with some trees and little garden with playground at the end. In the garden are water spigots but it doesn’t look like portable water. Bathrooms at reception building can be used but no showers. Trashbins are provided but no other amenities A safe place with a locked gate. 500$ is really a lot but we had a quite and safe night here.

Nous y avons passez une nuit. 300 pesos.

Nothing more than a large parking lot behind a fence. No water available to fill up your tanks. If you ask to the office, they let you use the restrooms near the hotel entrance. Wifi if you ask too. Very noisy , a lot of trafic nearby.
300 pesos is really to expensive for a parking lot so close to the road.
I'll never come back. Pemex can be more quiet for free.

RV Parking is along the edge of the hotel parking lot, adjacent to a large fenced in gravel lot. There are around 7 outlets I imagine. The wire running to the outlets appears to be 12 gague but I would estimate no more than 15A service would be available. The wire is run directly through the dirt so not sure of the reliability. I have solar so after examining the outlet, and since there was no shade, I just relied on my solar since the weather was forgiving this week (stayed 3 days while exploring Saltillo with temps 67-82). There is room probably for about 5 vehicles on the paved surface and overflow would go into the gravel lot with fairly rough terrain (a tent setup on this might be somewhat uncomfortable, depending on your padding).

The management said there were no showers because their license would not allow it. Also no showers or even cold water rinse were available by the pool and the only set of restrooms found were used by the work staff.

Overall, while comparatively speaking, this is a nice place to stay while exploring Saltillo. It’s about a 40 peso cab ride from here to the historic district. Tips to keep the fare down are, insist the meter be turned on when you enter a cab and as soon as you near the historic district center and see the traffic back up 3-5 blocks, pay, hop out of the cab and walk.

The only unpleasant experience here was a late evening desk clerk who offered a “car service” of the hotel which was supposedly gratis (free), gifted to the guests in trade for a small tip to the driver. This sounded too good to be true so after double checking with the driver when he arrived, he said it was a courtesy of the hotel and to just give him a tip at the end (he pointed to a 20 peso bill lying on his console). Now on the way downtown he delivered the troubling news that robbers were everywhere and the city was very dangerous, offering to return at any time to give a ride back to the hotel, while providing his phone number. We traded numbers and he phoned twice checking if we were ready to go. Finally he said he was on the way so after meeting him and getting a ride back to the Hotel, we tipped him 80 pesos, the same as a cab would have been. At that moment he pulled out a very strange looking bill for 260 pesos! This was 3 times the price of a cab. So not sure what this was all about. Paid the bill after arguing for a while because it just wasn’t worth getting into an altercation.

Seen downtown was nothing but families, children and the typical Mexico downtown Zocalo crowd with ice cream, treats performers and nothing dangerous at all. So for transportation I suggest you skip the evening desk clerk and just go to the market next door and hail a normal cab downtown.

Note there is a large Mi Tienda (HEB affiliate) supermarket next to the hotel with expected fare, including waiting cabs outside.

Bathrooms (no shower) are available in the restaurant which is open until 11:30pm the staff told us. Very nice playground for the kiddos. Right on a busy highway but not so bad if you need to stop here.
