Go past the other spots and park right up on the canyon. Make sure to fill your water tanks at the free municipal station in Holbrook. Beautiful sunset. Nobody for miles. A little creepy knowing thousands of Native Americans were slaughtered here. Definitely haunted history in these hills.
A bit rocky for tent camping here but on the plateau there are plenty of nice tent camping places.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
This is a great spot with a beautiful view. The ranch owner came up to us and said this is actually a private ranch, it’s not public land. We didn’t see any no trespassing signs, but all of the sites on this side of the river should be marked as permanently closed.
Report Check-InWe arrived late so we didn’t quite make it up to the canyon. There was a flat area to park right before it that we stopped at. Drove up to the canyon the next morning and it was beautiful. We definitely recommend this place! The stars at night were remarkable.
Report Check-InGood large area and you can drive down near the river but you need high clearance to get a somewhat level spot and a lot of broken glass. Road to spot is bumpy .Fair clearance required but no need for awd. Good spot for paramotor.
Report Check-InVery easy to get to. 2wd can make it in super easy. Did it in a fully loaded Subaru Outback. Bring firewood if you plan on having a fire for a while! Wood is not easy to find here. Nobody around and such an amazing sunset!
Report Check-InAmazing spot just along the canyon. Bit of a rough road for part of the way, but nothing too bad. Some glass and old bullet casing spread throughout, but it still felt safe. Hardly any wood for a fire. Didn’t see anyone else the whole time. Good T-Mobile cell service.
Report Check-InThis is a fantastic spot. Made it just fine in a 4x4 sprinter. Didn’t see anyone for days
Report Check-Ingreat spot with a strong cell signal,
quiet, remote, and very little trash.
drove my Chevy cargo 2 wheel in with concern but was easily done while taking my time.
stayed here 1 night, beautiful quiet spot. we got there at 9pm and didn't see anyone else on the drive in or out. the road is a little uneven and rocky so decent clearance and tires are a good idea, but 4x4 not necessary unless it's rained recentlu. 20 minute drive from petrified forest np. spotty reception for T-mobile.
Report Check-InAbsolutely beautiful! Amazing sunset, had some cow visitors and enjoyed the peace and seclusion! Some glass and a bit tricky to find a level spot. Clearance in our extended Ford transit was totally fine.
Report Check-Inawesome spot!! Watch out for mosquitoes this time of year- they are bad… and bring firewood if you plan on having a fire. There are plenty of branches n stuff to start and keep a fire going for a bit, but it burns super fast.
peace n love<3 .eh.
Just like TheRIG described! Gorgeous views, amazing sunset, and nice breeze. Super quiet, the only thing you can hear is the crickets and the cows. 10/10 recommend!
Report Check-InNot very level and broken glass everywhere. Other than that, very pretty and secluded! If you come by, please don't leave any more trash and consider taking out some scraps as we did. Some AT&T connection.
Report Check-InMight want to mention that you need high clearance to get here. I’m pretty adventurous in my 2wd transit connect but I had to turn around because I was scraping
Report Check-InGreat spot. 25min to the Petrified Forest NP. The little gravel road that leads to this spot has a little washout behind the normaly dry river crossing. High clearance highly recommended.
