Description

Camping spot in a good location next to the river. The infrastructure of the place is with bathroom, shower and energy.
It is possible to enjoy swimming pools with thermal water and also offer breakfast (I think it costs 2.5 USD)

Cost: 15,000 COP per person (4 USD)

How to get there: Before passing the entrance portal to the city (Road Cajamarca-Toche) there is a gate on the right side, if the gate is closed you can open it and follow the path to the farmhouse. The path is approximately 500 meters.

WiFi: There is no cell phone signal in the region, but the owners of the site have satellite internet, in case they need it.

Stopped here after a long day on the offroad route from Salento through the Carbonera wax palm forest. We arrived at the other pin just north (“toche”) and happened to meet the owner at the gate.

He let us in but informed us that a tree was blocking the path, but that he would cut it. It was a windy and off-camber little trail to the hot springs. Anything wider/taller than a high roof Ford Transit van might not enjoy it.

The tree that fell was HUGE! I walked to the hot spring to check it out, but it was not even warm. The owner insisted he would be able to cut the tree quickly, but I didn’t think it would be a quick process. The rest of the family also didn’t seem convinced 😅

So to park far away from the water and with the temperature, we moved on. Seems like a peaceful place though. Family was super kind and welcoming. There is a sweet dog on the property, too. Probably amazing when the hot spring is hot.

Lovely place - some day trippers came and went but other than that we had the place to ourselves. No wifi but there is community wifi a short walk away

Beautiful camping place. One of our favorites. We had it for us alone. Enjoyed the thermal pool, camp fire and a bath in the river. This is actually the same spot as the spot marked as “Toche!” But this is the actual location and “Toche!” marks the turn to it on the main road. 20k pp per night, no wild camping! Make sure to leave your entry in their guest book.

high clearance and 4x4 (for wet conditions) definitely necessary to get from Salento to Ibaque and as well to get to the camp spot. We had 4 hours from Salento to the camp with our Defender with lots of mud and rain.
the camp spot has a big shelter and a warm pool, perfect also for tents and cyclists. BUT it is rather 1 km from town than 500m.
we payed 35.000 COP for one night for 2 persons.
very nice hosts and friendly animals.
